Old Biscuitman Whatever, he's a fool and we're well rid of. Keane should be mad with himself, not our side.

Fair enough but if this is true ( and i do hope it is) , then i reckon its a safe bet Wally Downes would have wound him up over it.

Have a read on the icons.com Greg Halford website it sheds light on his activities, his favourite list has entries such as 1 Most annoying habit (Ask the girlfriend) 2 After Training (I go into town and spend money) Would that be down the Kings Road??? and finally he says he wasnt given" a fair CRACK (of the whip) at Reading" Maybe the deals are better up North.
Read it and decide for yourself.

A bit off topic, but when Keane was shouting his head off about this problem, do you think Wally was in the back naked and playing with himself?

My eyes! Help! My eyes!

In reply, I would like to think so. Possibly masturbating over a HARD copy of Neil Warnock's autobiography.

I think he's heard the rumours ...

http://www.safc.com/news/?page_id=13948

Sunderland Official Site Greg Halford is desperate to get more games under his belt for
Sunderland and admits he needs more action before fans will see
the best of him. The right-back, a £3m signing from Reading last summer, has been in and out of Roy Keane’s side as he’s struggled to
maintain his form.

He featured in the Black Cats reserves 3-1 win at Newcastle
on Tuesday night, starting the game in an unfamiliar central
midfield role but reverting to right-back at half-time.

And the 23-year-old, who hasn’t played for Sunderland’s
first team since the 2-0 defeat at Chelsea on December 8, concedes
Keane needs instant performances.

Halford said: “I need a run of games, six or seven matches in the team, but the manager wants performances straight away and I haven’t really been giving them. “I’m out of the team for that reason and that reason alone. I’ve just got to show the manager what I can do in training and get back in the team.

"I don’t go out to play badly on purpose but I am my own worst critic. I do criticise myself a lot and I do think about things maybe a bit too much. But I think that’s a good thing for me and I only want to make myself better.

"It’s all about the team, that’s the main thing.

Looks more like a confession to me.

Dirk Gently The juiciest bit of gossip I've heard so far this year.

I know there has been speculation about "reasons" for Halford's lack of performances and his sudden departure.

A contact at Sunderland has just suggested to me that the reason behind Roy Keane's fury in the manager's office after the match last month wasn't the last minute goal.

It was a lot more to do with us having sold him a player with a "problem" and not having mentioned that "problem".....

Given that Stephen Hunt witnessed this and that Wally was at the heart of it do you feel that the poor treatment of a football legend by Downes may unsettle Hunty.

In which case its either

Nice one Wally! You fat git

or

Nice one Wally - 4.5 million profit! Cool!!

I doubt this has got anything to do with why Keano was angry - surely, he signed Dwight Yorke who did far worse things while at ManUnited while Keano was there .... and Andy Cole wasn't an ANGEL either.

Point is he didn't know about Halford's alledged "problem" and obviously felt someone at RFC should have told him..

Another contact from Sunderland has also told me that he understands that somewhere circulating in the North East is a mobile phone video which shows an ex-Reading player sniffing what appears to be talcum-power from the stomach of a lady who was apparently being paid to be in attendance there......

That's what I've been told, anyway. I have no actual evidence, just pure hearsay - and, of course, I only posted this to demonstrate the type of vile, scurrilous rumour which is circulating in Sunderland.

I'd rather have a player we do need.

By paying £5m on a player not capable of delivering anything close to that value for him?

I might be doing him a disservice but I suspect Hunt needs Coppell as much as we think Reading needs Hunt.

He is probably worth £5m+ to us at the moment but I have strong doubts he'll produce the goods elsewhere. Okay, if the absence of his almost talismanic presence results in us going down with Sunderland then I suppose Keane will have done something of a number on us, but there would be a £10m+ increased gulf between our finances which wouldn't be a bad place to start our season in the Championship.
