This lot are absolutely cringe worthy. Celebrating their "great tradition" and simultaneously managing to sum up everything that's cheap and tacky about modern football.

What's wrong with running on the pitch at the final whistle, swinging on the goalposts and ripping up the pitch??

Did they wheel out Russell Brand, Ray Winstone and various other "celebrity" fans, dancing to Knees Up Mother Brown whilst gurning like Pearly Cockwombles??

Definition of an idiot. Your team is moving into a massive, new stadium, potentially heralding the dawn of a new era for the club, after a very strong season. And you throw a bottle at a coach carrying the away team and get a life ban.

How do these mouth-breathers even dress themselves, nevermind anything else?

Quite. Likewise with some Liverpool fans near the anniversary of Hillsborough playing up, letting off flares etc - you would really think crowd safety would foremost in their minds.

Was there all this stuff from Sky when Arsenal left Highbury? Seems like they've gone completely overboard on this.

Media darlings, aren't they?

Will be interested to see if Tottenham get the same coverage when they leave WHL.

It has been a bit bizarre, but I guess it's a by product of both the evolution of Skys wall-to-wall hype over the 10 years since Highbury was closed and the number of West Ham fans in the media (I'd heard of it before but never really noticed, it does seem they're the media darlings!).

West Ham have also gone to town on the whole thing as well, which helps it get rammed down our throats. I wonder if that's partly a marketing thing to help sell tickets and address the controversy about the move to the Olympic Stadium by trying to emphasize the size of the club and it's history.

If last night's ceremony is anything to go by their history is having three excellent players in the 60s, Trevor Brooking and a couple of nice goals since Sky began. There's got to be more to them than that hasn't there? There was a fanatastic atmosphere in the stadium during the match and they managed to kill that stone dead within 5 minutes of ceremony starting. Just woeful.

Exactly. Over the top coverage for a team that generally hasn't achieved anything aside from three FA Cups and perennial mid table nothingness in the top division.

Yes it's something I guess we'd all like Reading to be able to say one day but compared to the properly big clubs that win things (like Leicester :o ) it amounts to diddly squat and SKY just needing filler for the plainly ridiculous idea of 24 hour sports "news" channels.

Watching the West Ham game live on a stream at the moment. Pitch is quite far from the stands.

They have completely lost their biggest weapon, crowd being close to the pitch in a compact and noisy stadium. Was worth a good number of points every season.

That's what happens when you get money hungry fruit chews running your club.

Prefer ous stadium every day of the week. At least it's built for football.

Of course I preferred EP but I'm comparing current stadiums. Looking at theirs we are well off. At least it was built for football.

Well yes of course, and as you quite rightly allude to, the lack of points won by an intimidating atmosphere could one-day see them with the poshest ground in the Championship or worse.
