the takeover is reported to have fallen through following the Premier League’s fit and proper persons’ checks on members of their consortium

Apparently these are the guys who nearly bought Hull from Allam, only for 'members' of their consortium to fail the fit and proper person test. Given the number of questionable characters who've cleared that hurdle they must have some lovely mates.

Erm, blimey, wasn't expecting that.

Having agreed a £130m deal with the Tigers - the takeover is reported to have fallen through following the Premier League’s fit and proper persons’ checks on members of their consortium.

Sounds promising

Also:

The daughter-in-law of Zeng Qinghong, (former vice-president of the Chinese regime), Jiang Mei, was reported by overseas Chinese media as working with Dai Yongge, to launder billions of yuan overseas for corrupt officials.

Does anyone know if they've tried to buy another club previously but the takeover fell through for some reason?

They came in, sold the land surrounding the stadium (worth £millions) to "RFC PLOT 1, 2, 3 LTD" (which they own) for a nominal fee and then sold the club on minus the land. They'll probably now sell the land on for a tidy profit (with PP). We've essentially been asset stripped.

I'd rather Tiger hadn't put on a show tbh, it feels like betrayal.

Maybe I'm an optimist but if this takeover does happen, perhaps the Thais did have a long term vision for the club, hence the plans for REP and stating that they would be going ahead with the Bearwood Academy plans, but the offer from the Chinese is too good to turn down.

Yes it could go all tits up but I'd rather not be constantly concerned about something that is out of my control.

Looks like I might owe blueroyals an apology.

From what I can tell through fairly limited digging, £15m worth of shares were alloted to the football club in consideration for the land in May last year.

Since that point the shares have been gradually transferred across to a company called 'Empire Asset Group PTE limited', which it seems to be at the point now where the football club actually has no share holding in the Prop Co. Not sure if the football club received anything for the transfer of shares but somehow I doubt it..

Will be very interesting to see the club accounts when they're released in the next couple of months.

Just to reprint the EP article...

GetReading Reading FC are in talks over a potential takeover led by a Chinese brother and sister .

getreading understands negotiations are at an advanced stage which could see the current Thai owners sell a majority of their shares in the club.

The sibling pair behind the takeover attempt are Dai Yongge and his sister Dai Xiu Li - reported to be one of China’s wealthiest women.

Talks haver progressed relatively quickly during the last few weeks amid strong rival interest from at least one other Chinese group, as well as an American consortium - all of which remain interested.

Dai Yongge and Dai Xiu Li - whose property empire in Hong Kong is known as Rehne Commercial - attempted to buy Hull City during the summer but the deal collapsed.

Having agreed a £130m deal with the Tigers - the takeover is reported to have fallen through following the Premier League’s fit and proper persons’ checks on members of their consortium.

After the deal’s collapse Li claimed she and her brother remained interested in investing in an English club, saying the family ‘had a love for the game’ and wanted to ‘learn about European football'.

And they have now turned their attentions to Reading - having entered into talks with the club around three weeks ago.

The pair own Chinese football club Beijing Renhe FC, who were relegated from the Super League last season into China League One.

Alarm bells ringing here.....

Why did they fail the test
What has changed that would mean they could pass the FL test and then the PL test should we be promoted

Yet more upheaval and uncertainty in the boardroom, welcome to 21st century football :D
