TBH I think it's all just idle media speculation. Jaap is talking a new deal with Reading - so bound to be some smoke from that to strengthen his case (not that he really needs it) - and big clubs aren't likely to go for him based on one season of Division 2 football.

Only threat, as I see it this close season, would be from a mid-table PL club.

Also Google Translate says this of an article from Italian site Tutte Mercado

"A meeting to understand projects and ambitions for the future. The entourage of Jaap Stam in the day will meet the new leaders of Reading, on the table the future of the Dutch coach who meanwhile has other requests. It should not be ruled out that Reading can offer renewal of the contract, but first the technician wants to understand the ambitions of the new property. Stam and the future, hot days .."

And I don't think you can say fairer than that.

Presumably adding one further year to the existing along with a payrise.

Leeds fans melt down that he might go there with his boring negative football.

Relax guys, it's not going to happen.

Could be a shortlist of 1 but they still wouldn't get him.

Jaap Stam's agent Henk Timmer appears to have ruled out his client moving to Leeds United.

Timmer, speaking to Dutch media outlet Voetbal Primeur , said: "There is a lot of interest in Jaap, from English clubs and elsewhere in Europe, but he is loyal to Reading, the club that gave him a chance in English football."

I love that comment. Jaap Stam fast becoming a true Reading FC legend. If he can finish the job and get us established in the Premier League then he will have achieved Legend status! His stock will then be so high and I'm sure Manchester United would be his next port of call to succeed Mourinho. Give us 5 more years Stam then go to United with our full blessing. We'll love you forever! Stam is a top man.

I'm a genuine poster whereas as evidenced by your contributions to various discussions, you are clearly a troll or a tw@t or both.

I don't know exactly what it is, probably the way he does everything, but Jaap strikes me as an incredibly straight forward and honest man. My strong belief, which I've held for some time, is he will be with us for this coming season and then he will be gone, regardless of whether we have a good season or not (I also think we're in for a great season). He's never even attempted to make us think we are anything but a stepping stone, fine by me. If we go up or challenge again then his stock rises, if not then a 50% success rate here still looks incredible especially given the situation at the start of this season.

As such I'd be very suprised if he signs a new contract and if he does then my feeling will be that our new owners have very big plans for us.

Jaap Stam's agent has confirmed that Stam will not be moving to Leeds because the manager would "only move to a big club"

Claude Puel sacked by Southampton

by The Good Dai Yongge » 14 Jun 2017 22:14

I've been expecting and slightly dreading this. Should we be worried?

Jaap Stam's agent has hinted that he may be interested if a Premier League club came a-calling.

Perhaps Southampton could reappoint Nigel Adkins. Or Alan Pardew...

Would be shocked if he's even linked, Southampton fans hated Puel for playing a slow, 'boring', style of football. So why would they want Stam?
