Paging Kes to the thread

Reading sign ex-Chelsea supremo Ron Gourlay as new chief executive in effort to reach Premier League

Yeah, I know it's the Sun, but it could be a goer considering Howe has taken a job at the EFL

Huge statement of intent if true. Like Oliveira.

I wish people would stop saying "statement of intent". It's driving me insane.

You're actually so funny it's unbelievable. Grow up, you have the same level of humour as a four year old.

We are now rapidly entering unknown territory here. This is a guy who was Chief Executive of Chelsea when they won the Champions League and a number of PL titles, worked in a senior role at Man Utd before that, and is widely credited as a significant factor behind the rise of both clubs. A man with a CV like this simply does not rock up at a middling Championship club unless they mean serious business.

It's very hard not to be impressed and excited by the Dai family thus far.

I like how they're doing things this summer. Making the right infrastructure changes, laying a new pitch, tying up new contracts, rather than just throwing money at players straight away.

He won't be cheap.

How about signing some decent new players - that would show real intent.

So what does a chief executive do specifically?

Why's nobody touched him in 3 years if he's so good?

His salary at Chelsea was £1.96million per year (or £37,692.31 per week if you'd prefer that that way). No doubt he'll be on considerably less here, but someone of his ilk won't have come cheap

Maybe nobody want to make such a big statement of intent before?

Decided to pursue interests and new business opportunities outside of football apparently.
