Happy with this. 10 goals and 4 assists from midfield last year in a poor team. Would be a very good option.

Stam wanted at least one more midfielder and a striker, so would complete half the picture.

This would be a poor, poor signing. Will occasionally go on a little scoring run (but he only scores in bursts, so he also goes on runs of 1 in 20 games). For a senior pro playing a lot of football as a support striker/no.10, its a bad return. Dog running after a balloon.

What's wrong with him?

Considering our first choice midfield consists of two 22 year old and a 21 year old, we could do with an experienced midfielder like that in the squad - Quinny is too unreliable with his injuries.

I mean, do people look at a player's name and immediately whinge because it's not an exciting name?

He's 31. Welsh international and, according to wiki, has managed 63 goals in 472 appearances in all competitions (that's 1 goal every 7.5 games which is decent for a central midfielder).

I thought he was out of contract though as didn't his last deal with Wolves expire in the summer - or did they extend it again before then?

Well quite.

Very decent Championship player - will also allow Quinn to go out to a L1 club on loan to get match fit. Could be a very smart signing.

He's decent. Isn't/wasn't he their captain?

Yup. Of course we've never had any uninspiring signings work out, have we?

Yann Kermorgant, Andy Griffin, Ian Harte, Jason Roberts... all shite

A lot of Wolves fans slate him and celebrate when he's not in the team. Yes Barrow and Bacuna were in the same boat, but they were both in hard environments, I mean everyone knows Villa were a complete mess last season and Barrow was present when Leeds started bottling it but Dave Edwards does not fit that bill. He's been at the club for a long time and has done nothing in recent years to really show he has anything promotion worthy to offer. There are far far better options out there, such as Jackson Irvine. It's incredibly frustrating that we've seemed to have settled for very average players.

Wolves fans all seem to have similar opinions of him - always puts in a shift but doesn't have the technical ability.

Normal knee jerk here as on social media. FFS if we signed Messi some of you would still moan.
A goal every 4.9 games last season. very probably a replacement for Quinn.

Yes, as it happens. 3 successful per game last season according to whoscored. which is higher than any of our midfielders managed.

For comparison, Danny Williams was 1.7, Joey 2.1, Swift 1.1

Also played 37 games last season, so clearly isn't fragile.

Hmmm interesting. Maybe a Gunnarsson type signing?

Yeah, that's exactly who popped into my head. Or maybe a Leigertwood. Whoscored is a very blunt tool of course, but looking at it for isolated statistics, he looks like the kind pf player we need, and haven't got.

Exactly the kind of player that will get constant stick from some, for not doing anything with the ball. But yeah, most of our fans don't know anything about football (including me)
