Team for Swansea.

by windermereROYAL » 18 Sep 2017 12:41

I would expect a reasonably strong side against a weakened Swansea outfit.

............................................Jaakkola.....................................................

Gunter..................Ilori...........................Moore..........................Obita....

...............................................Evans...................................................

..................Clement.........................................Kelly...................

McCleary................................................................................Popa.

........................................Smith....................................................................

Subs Manonne. Beerens, Blackett. Bodvarsson. Aluko. JVDB. Edwards.

Think Popa is injured. I expect Kelly to be rested and also a start for Bacuna. Maybe see Rinamohta get a game ahead of Gunter again?

Otherwise, reckon that's quite close. Gives McCleary and Obita some much needed game time and perhaps Beerens as well.

Don't think that's miles off

Think Bod might get another start after only playing 45 mins

Possibility of Blackett going CB instead of Moore, and would like to see Rinomhota get some minutes

Would also like to see Beerens start

Please please can Stam play someone else at right back or right wing back other than Gunter. Maybe try Bacuna at right wing back a position he has played in before in his career. I doubt this will happen though as if we were playing in a 5 a side match tomorrow night Gunter would still be in the starting line up !

I think Edwards really needs 90mins and I'd be disappointed not to see Aluko start

Whatever happens, JDB needs to play and get some confidence as I am pretty sure it will be dented from the last two games despite his goal at Birmingham.

Having said that, maybe throwing him in against Swansea isn't the best move. I think he is a man playing under a lot of pressure at the moment and needs another goal going into the league.

3points Think Popa is injured. I expect Kelly to be rested and also a start for Bacuna. Maybe see Rinamohta get a game ahead of Gunter again?

Otherwise, reckon that's quite close. Gives McCleary and Obita some much needed game time and perhaps Beerens as well.

Why would Rinomhota (note spelling!) get a game ahead of Gunter - they're not the same position? Rinomhota is a midfielder.

If Watson wasn't injured, I reckon he'd start ahead of Gunter for this one. Bacuna might be a shout though. Who plays RB for the U23s?

Bacuna needs to play CM based on Saturday's performance.

Would like to see Rinomhota get the game - prefer him in the middle but wouldn't be surprised to see him RWB again. Smith should get some of the match (but I'd like Bodvarsson to get at least 45 for confidence).

Be good to get GMac, Obita, Evans, Ilori and Beerens some game time given they haven't been involved much, also Edwards and Bacuna some if not the full match - although not at the expense of Rinomhota being involved at all. Ilori and Andresson at the back or me. Blackett if we go 5 at the back.

Expect we'll see Clement play. Swift might get some time?

Would rest/bench Mannone Gunter, McShane, Moore, vdB, Kelly and Aluko.

Rinomhota is normally a midfielder but he played right back in the last round.

Current U23 right back is 18 year old Teddy Howe, son of Nigel. Ridiculously quick but imo not ready to be starting at this level. It has to be Gunter or Bacuna imo, I think anyone else risks getting destroyed.

This is where we could have done with Keown tbh, was surprised we let him go

Not really fair to hold onto him as emergency 3rd choice right back, when Gunter's barely missed a game for us through injury in far too many seasons here.

Edwards is cup tied for tomorrow, not sure if any of our other summer signings find themselves in the same position?

Because he had a good game at right back against Millwall??

Ah ok, I wasn't at that game, but knew Gunter had been captain. So, where did he play then, if Rinomhota was RB? RCB? RWB?
