Royston Drenthe

by bigshaka'away' » 10 Nov 2017 15:22

He has retired at 29...no mention of Reading, but interesting nevertheless. He should have been brilliant, but instead little more than a Mass Saar.

Haven't gone in to the details but appears he blames Madrid and agents and he has experienced more in 30 years than most would in 200

Ok Royston, enjoy your retirement rapping about your hardship mate

Yes 30, not 13. What would you expect, wait until he's 60?

Just not sure how a professional footballer has the time to have 5 children, especially one with such a well travelled career. Unless he has a cavalier attitude to contraception

How long did it take Boris Becker to conceive a child in a broom cupboard?

I've got three kids. 1st one - arrived despite contraception. 2nd and 3rd - planned - in both cases, pregnant within 3 weeks of taking the decision to have another.

Could easily have had 5 before I was 30 if we'd wanted to, and could afford it.

No, he sounds like a normal guy, I just think you may have been strangely indoctrinated.
Time to have 5 children by 30 whilst being a footballer? I don’t suppose he was footballing 24 hours a day and amazingly enough, I’m sure he would have had some family time.
Not everybody falls into the boring ‘Mr. Clean, 1 boy, 1 girl, cut your lawn and wash your car at weekends’ category that wannabee middle Englanders aspire to.

i think he's got an injury and
i hope i'm wrong and his career
is a good one. he has lots of potential.
i'm just hoping he doesn't go the
way of drenthe. but so far, failed to
impress in the premier league from
the little i've seen.

Playing football for a living whilst earning tens of thousands of £'s a week so your partner does not have to work and can afford to hire in help/family sounds like a sensible scenario in which to raise a family, if that's what you want.

Alternatively, being a high paid Real Madrid player and having attractive young women throw themselves at you eager to cash in by having your kid might be a factor here, likewise at Reading if he was prepared to lower his standards a lot.
