AthleticoSpizz ex-Royal Kevin (bloody) Watson coaches there ....was still registered as a player recently.....dunno if he still is?....

deliberate edit.......expect to hear him pop-up on BBC Berks a few times prior to the game

Shorey still coaches there.
Was going to say it will probably be a lower league team away with the tie postponed for bad weather! Half right, still wouldn't guarantee the tie going ahead though even with it being a southern team...

Yea pretty much this for me too. Big team at home meaning a chance it may be on TV so may be able to see it if I didn't go. Even 1 or 2 big teams away may have been appealing. Wouldn't be able to get a ticket to Stevenage if I wanted to go and it's highly unlikely to be televised. Still, could be worse, at least it's not a same division tie and we should win.

Kitsondinho Good draw.....hope we somehow manage to get through as I’m in Reading 4th Round weekend ....(Home Draw please)

That'll be nailed on for Mansfield away then.

I’d just cancel my trip south and travel over from Chesterfield

Actually, Mansfield away would be a cracking away day.....how many pubs within 10 minute walk from Field Mill? I went back a couple of years ago for the first time in about 20 years! It has improved a lot, and some cracking little pubs, even if the brewery has gone.

So long as they don’t find out where I currently live......the ‘Scab’ Derby is nasty!

Mansfield would have been proper nostalgic for me. Spent a few years in the area as a kid and used to watch them every week in the days of George Foster as manager. Remember coming to watch Reading vs mansfield in maybe 1992 at Elm Park, when Reading scored twice in the last 3-4 mins in torrential rain (and uncovered away end) to win 2-1. Senior was one of the scorers

Place is an absolute dump but had some charm and some decent pubs certainly. And yes the Chesterfield derby was certainly spicy

Apart from 2014 of course, but then it was a defeat to the biggest club in the world so doesn't really count.

  1. 2013 - Crawley W 3-1
  2. 2014 - Brighton L 0-1
  3. 2015 - Huddersfield W 1-0
  4. 2016 - Huddersfield D 2-2
  5. 2017 - Man U L 0-4
  6. 2018 - Stevenage ?

The Brighton one was my fault, I have never gone to an away game that we've won. The first one I went to that we drew was Fulham.

i get that it's the romance of the cup and away to a lesser team can be nice, but
we've played them in recent seasons. would have preferred somebody different or like i
say, a bigger prem club that will come with good support and play decent football. would
be a good measure of how we're doing.

A bigger Prem team at home would've been good for you, Marino, agreed. How about Spurs? They don't have a great record at Stamford Bridge either, so it would be a good chance for the Blues to go through to the next round.
