Filling in the air vents with solid panels

by One87One » 13 Dec 2017 10:44

Apologies if discussed elsewhere (please point me in the right direction if so), but the club recently agreed to fill in the air vents at the back of the stands to help keep the noise (lol) inside the stadium. It's a positive step forward IMO. Next step will be making actual noise...

No longer happening as the club scoffed at the cost. Instead they’re looking at putting up banners in front of the vents which doesn’t keep the noise in. Also if they use them behind the goal in the South Stand, the away fans will rip them down, so all in all a bit of a fail from the club considering they’d initially given their backing to putting solid panels in to help improve the atmosphere (when it returns).

I thought the air vents were specifically designed and their whole purpose was to allow air flow onto the playing area to help sustain the grass/quality of the playing surface.

Just surprised its taken them 20 years to realise it hasn't and doesn't!

That was the belief at the time but a number of clubs have since decided that not to be the case, or it isn't required, and have started filling theirs in as it helps keep the noise inside the ground. There's a test banner in Y26, but made of material. It wont make a difference in noise but the club may use these around the ground to personalise the stadium more.

Guess that with all the recent and proposed housing developments within earshot of our “wall of noise” it might be beneficial to help pacify their residents. Lol

So they are still looking to do this? OR they never intended doing this in the first place?

Vents as in the gap?

This is funny because Green has conflated different meanings of 'vents'

You're telling me they didn't agree to fill them in? Someone had better dig out Jamie Hodder on Twitter then because he's told anyone that will listen that he's had meetings with the club and they agreed to fill the vents in to help improve the atmosphere. He's the lad behind the recent banners as well.

Completely untrue once again. It’s was TTE and their designer.

He did himself proud yesterday...100% the club won't talk with him now, a complete idiot, probably loved the attention though.

He’s a lying little shit then. Quite happy to lap up the attention but when it turns out the club aren’t doing what he suggested they would do, he’s blocking everyone for asking him for updates.

So what have the club agreed to do re: solid back panels?
