Strange looking team. Richards dropped again.

Jaakkola, Gunter (c), Bacuna, Ilori, Blackett, Edwards, Kelly, Clement, Beerens, Aluko, Böðvarsson.
Subs: Mannone, Evans, McCleary, Kermorgant, Popa, Andresson, Richards.

Richards is either not a Stam favourite, or perhaps slightly more likely is deemed too important to get injured in a nothing game.

Any news on who Liam Moore has signed for? Another "knock" conveniently makes him NOT cup-tied, so he is offski-boffski this window then.

Not miles from the team I’d have gone with. Not really fair to keep shoving Bacuna all over the place tbh, and would have played Popa and possibly Richards (but can understand him being rested)

Be interesting if Beerens and Dadi play well. Could certainly do with Dadi scoring tonight. And for all of Beerens weaknesses he does have a decent cross on him - which we’ve been pretty miserable at recently

I just can't understand the rationale for this side. I can maybe understand Richards if Stam is now planning on playing him regularly in the league. I can understand giving Blackett a relatively low risk game in central defence to see if he can cope better there than at left back, especially given McShane's injury.

Midfield is absolutely baffling though. Bacuna is still at full back, Kelly and Clement help make a powderpuff midfield, Evans dropped again, Aluko back in but not even a sniff of a start for Popa.

Good to see Bodvarsson get a start.

Positives about Beerens.
He doesn't really use pace to do the good things he does, so our general walking pace won't affect him too badly.

Negatives about Beerens.
Even if he plays well, Barrow is still by far our best attacking player no matter how well Beerens does tonight.

Are the kits as similar as Tim and Mick are getting overly excited about?

So at their place Stam said when fringe players get their chance they have to take it (they didn't) and now they get another chance to make up for the chance they didn't take ! Right'o Jaap ...

Sounds like the standard Reading cr@p performance so far

Appears to be a total lack of taking the game to the opposition just like league games

Stevenage having much the better of it and have already had one goal chalked off for offside

Perhaps Stam has a heart problem and has to avoid excitement at all costs

And no, Tim, the ineptitude of the performance is nothing to do with the kit clash.
