Pub help required

by ayjaydee » 10 Feb 2018 00:33

Got a Saint supporting mate at work who is off to see his team against the Baggies and the Toon. I got chatting about pubs I had been to and vaguely recalled a pub near the stadium in W Bromwich which was Indian owned and did a very decent curry and a pint deal and a great sports bar in Newcastle that had pool tables one one floor, food on another and silicon enhanced strippers in the basement. The strippers compère spent the session taking the piss out of us and the Mackems.
Anyone know where I mean?

Not sure what time scale that you are working to and Newcastle is a big place....

But, I am in Newcastle next week and should I “stumble” into such a hostelry (a vague address/area would help) then I would be only too happy to check it out and to warn them of his arrival.

Buffalo Joe's might be the Newcastle place you are referring to?

Went to the Vine recently, they've moved the open barbeque at the back to a separate area behind a counter and added a lot more tables. Still a cracking pub.

It was first season in the Prem. If I recall the place was over 4 or 5 floors with onebeing pool tables, one eatery, one sports bar and a basement where the strippers performed. Can't remember the location but it was only 10-15 mins walk to the stadium.
Spizz, I'm sure a man of your calibre will be able to "stumble" across it if it still exists.
RG thanks for THe Vine, that is indeed the one.

You sound like a bit of a pub oracle, RG30, colour me impressed.

Would you be so kind as to share your best away days for pubs? Maybe a top 5, if that's not taking the piss.

Took friends to the Vine about a month ago, and probably going on Saturday night as we've got family down to stay with us. A great venue

Details of the Vine passed on, unfortunately my mate will have to look elsewhere for pre match fun in Newcstle as Sam Jacks is long since dead (RIPIP) .
Thanks for the responses.

On a different note, going to be in Wembley for the Wolves game in a few weeks. Which would be the best pub to watch it? I've been to the Torch and the Green Man numerous times (though mainly the Torch) but not sure whether either have multiple screens. Would it be best to stick to one of these or is there another option?

Every time I catch sight of this thread, I think it's advertising for bar staff.
