Good to see that Sky/FL have realised that people actually like watching all the play-off games and scheduled them so that every game is a stand alone with none clashing with the PL final day too.

Agreed with your Championship prediction OMA - that said, I can't stand the thought of John Terry's smug face as he lifts the play-off trophy.

Does anyone have any stats on how statistically likely it is for the 3rd placed team to win the playoffs?

Nice one. So accounting for last year where none of the 3rd (shifting places up one for League Two) placed teams went up, that's

3rd 38%
4th 20%
5th 20%
6th 22%

If I recall correctly, I think I heard the other day that Fulham have never won a play-off game. Three appearances, out in the semi-finals each time without winning a leg. This is, however, the first time they have come 3rd in the league since the play-offs were established.

Probably not for this thread, but would be good to get those percentages as an index against success in the season after promotion, i.e. do the promoted 6th place teams generally come straight back down?

Correct. This is their 4th play off appearance. Over the previous 3 apperances they have drawn one leg and lost the other each time.

Fairly sure I have seen the captains lift a small trophy up when they win. It is that or a giant comedy cheque to signify the TV money the club will be getting.

I see the Championship play off final has been moved again to the Saturday. Why do they keep swapping it round with the League 2 final?

Love to see Shrewsbury and Exeter win the lower division play offs. Prefer Villa to win the Championship one just to get rid of a proper big club.

If the Championship Final goes to penalties then there’s a chance it will end about 10 minutes before the Champions League Final kicks off 8)

Maybe there's something going on this summer?
