Ironic that we, as Reading fans, are always clamouring to find players from lower leagues/Scotland/Ireland, but when Sunderland make a managerial appointment akin to that, the first response is :|

Behave Hendo. They're in dire straits and desperately need to get out of that league next season and they stick in a nobody. Incredible.

Everyone is a nobody, until they are a somebody.

With parachute payments, they really should have no trouble getting out of that league.

Just saying, people are quick to sneer and mock, just give the man a chance. St Mirren domin8ed the Scottish Championship last year.

Ye maybe.

I hope he is a catastrophic failure.

Ross is highly rated and managed St Mirren to promotion this season. He is a bit of a risk but has been successful in his short career, so is a good appointment in my book.

Sorry, when do we always say we should get players / managers from Scotland? I thought it was widely acknowledged the standard up there us terrible. We got burnt by Burns, not again.

Good luck to him at Sunderland, he'll need it.

I don't think they will go up.

Yeah because everyone knows all Scottish managers are shit.

I think it's a decent appointment. Certainly better than allowing one of the usual suspects to jump back on the merrygoround. Decent opportunity for Ross to build a reputation in the lower leagues.

Lampard appointed at Derby. That's going to go really badly isn't it?

Just because you were a big name player, shouldn't mean you are able to waltz straight in to a managerial position at a club in the top two divisions without one iota of managerial experience.

I hope it fails spectacularly.

It will ... he's too much of a 'nice guy' to cope with the trials of Champ football.

depends who he gets in around him to do the actual coaching work I guess.

I like to imagine that his only influence will be to tell the chefs at the training ground to massively increase the portion sizes for everyone and that no one is allowed to shoot closer than 30 yards to goal. Just shoot, all the time, no matter where you are on the pitch. Defender picks up the ball from the goalkeeper, Lampard is at the side screaming at him to shoot

Zidane quits

heard this spaculated on in a podcast earlier in the week. They said there had been a lot of rumours he wanted to walk away and not manage again, he was aware his hero status could be ruined if he stayed and wanted to go out on a high

Don't blame him. The longer you stay the more likely the tide is to turn. His career is hardly going to get any better, so say thanks and go put your feet up.

Maybe take the French National job in a few years if you're bored.

Wasn't expecting that... I can see why he did it, but where exactly is he going to go now? It's not like you can move up from Real, is it?
