Rumour - Vito Mannone

by Sutekh » 31 May 2018 12:20

Rumour in the Chronicle that Vito is looking to move back to Italy (possibly not that unsurprising given the loss of his mother during last season) and that Sampdoria are showing an interest.

So possibly another headache on the horizon for the management

Only positive of this is the chance for the younger goalkeepers to be promoted to the senior team, just wish we didn't give Jaakkola a contract. Clement will probably buy a new keeper if Vito goes however, so not an ideal situation.

Ben Hamer at Leicester is out of contract. I think he would be a good replacement should Mannone go

Can we renew our interest in Darlow just to piss off Leeds?

Non-plussed really. Decent keeper but makes too many mistakes. I wasn't Federici's biggest fan but I'd sooner have him back and he'd cost very little.

Meh, ok keeper. Nothing special. Fewer disastrous errors than Habsi or Fed, but also not in the same league for special saves as Habsi.

I'd certainly take Hamer back.

Should be used to that supporting Reading these last few seasons though.

Fcuk Up Fed, he of the amazing Wembley Whoopsie, over Mannone? I'd sooner lose a limb than have Skippy anywhere near this club again. Is he 3rd or 4th choice at Bournemouth these days :| .

Hamer, on the other hand, should he be interested, would be very worthy of consideration.

PS. Not sure Vorm would be interested but he's probably better than Mannone.

Nah I thought Feds was alright - he was a bit suspect, at the near post mind you.

Not to mention the far post, crossbar or anywhere in his own half.

I liked A-Fed. He screwed up here or there but then we are tier 2 relegation fodder, I would say that is about our level tbh

Nat really a fan of players going back but I'd take Hamer because he's a decent keeper and left for first team football and has nothing to live up or down to.

What a ridiculous response. A whole career defined and judged as crap because of one mistake. I guess you must be shyte at your job too then? - as must all of us.

Incidentally I seem to remember that Pog made a mistake that could've been said to have been just as expensive for us. And F8ck knows why we kept Lovell at the club after his mistake!

Feds was an excellent keeper for us and helped us win far more than we lost due to the one mistake you highlight.
