I'm going for a slightly different flavour, going to start with a 50£ starting stake and see what it is at the end of the world cup.

I am going quite big on Saudi Arabia to beat Russia. 10/1 currently.

RG30 £200 win Brazil 9/2

A brave bet considering how rarely non-European teams win a European World Cup. If it pays off though...

Just looking at doing some doubles or acca's based on 1 or 2 days matches.

My only bet so far is from the first 4 days of games:

Croatia to beat Nigeria
Serbia to beat Costa Rica
Poland to beat Senegal
Sweden to beat South Korea
14/1

I cant find it there but I just read that Skybet are offering a 50/1 double on Germany to win the world cup and Saudi Arabia to not score a goal at the tournament

I have chucked £1 at 66/1 on Brazil & Spain to win all 3 of their group games while Panama and Saudi Arabia lose all 3 of theirs.

Would be a minor worry. But a Neymar led team is always going to be a threat.

Looking ahead to the opening round of fixtures, the one bet I like the look of at a reasonable price is Senegal to beat Poland.

Pepe the Horseman Timo Werner top scorer - 28/1.

I have him in my work predictions as I think he is genuinely the most likely top scorer in the tournament

Does look like a cracking bet on the face of it. I guess the bookies are looking at his Bundesliga record this season (13 in 32 games) and he has just one goal this year for Germany too.

With Mexico, Sweden, South Korea and one of Costa Rica/Switzerland/Serbia, I'd expect Germany to rack up a few goals.

You'd think that at just 28, Thomas Muller has two more World Cups to try to break Klose's goals record, he currently has 10 and might be another candidate for top scorer.

Edit: looks like people have caught on - Werner is now generally 16/1, best-priced 22/1 with MarathonBet.
I like the look of Mbappe at 33/1.

I am having £20 on Saudi Arabia to beat Russia and a tenner on France to win it with Griezmann top scorer.

Poland named a very strong attacking line-up against Lithuania for final World Cup warm up today. Backed them -2 on the Asian Handicap (EVS)

I've got £1m on no goal in the first 25 mins, with PP.

Iceland to finish bottom of Group D at 6/5 looks a very fair price to me. Thoughts?

Iceland got to the semi final of the last tournament, i'd have them getting out of the group.

If people are thinking about placing a few bets this eve then I'd suggest they listen to the latest 'Only Balls and Horses' podcast where Nick Goff (excellent football tipster) rattles through all the groups and gives some good pointers.
