LWJ
Scutterbucketz Would be LOLzy if Moore went to someone else now.

Rangers is his target from what I've heard.

Could they afford the £10m+?

Not sure on that front.

I know he was interested due to European football rather than a relegation scrap at Brighton.

Doubt it. Read an article in one of the Scottish papers recently about their attempts to sign Jake Cooper and their summer spending was described as "massive" despite being under £10m.

Shouldn’t imagine he’ll go to Rangers for two games of European football and then a season of utter dross. He’d be better off at Brighton.

Good news but we need a holding tackler in midfield. We are to lightweight.

Simon's Church So Clement told him he wants more intensity in the final third but keeps picking aluko and swift, two of the least energetic players off the ball in the league :?

.

Pre returning knackered at the start of last season and then struggling to get fit and remain injury free, Swift was very energetic off the ball. IMO the absence of the 'old Swift' was a significant contributory factor to our poor form and performances last season.

Agree Royal Blue. And as mentioned he didnt stop running on Saturday.

Bacuna is reasonably solid as another midfielder. Though not enough to play the CDM role without Meyler imo

Denver Royal
Hound If the fee really is about 1m, that’s an absolute steal

Our 4 forwards for the season have cost about 4m combined, which kind of puts things into perspective a bit when you see Leeds spunking 7m+ on Bamford

In fact, take Aluko (what a weird signing that was) and Ilori out and we are proper bargain basement - could have a keeper, a back 4 and a first choice midfield all free transfers or academy

...which is why I'm trying to reconcile how or why we find ourselves in such (alleged) financial difficulty?

Parachute payments run out?

yeah, is it that and the fact that we have a massive squad of overpaid lightweight midfielders that we spent an absolute fortune on

Midfield will get overrun as it stands. Baldock will have his work cut out getting 1+ chance a game. Williams carried
us before and we never replaced him. So having another striker means nothing.

^^Partly this + midfield was over run last season by having CFs which had zero threat on the break and 2 wingers who were defensively unequipped to do their job.
IF, and its a big if, we get Aluko to track back and cover like he should be, we will stand in better light this season.
