Speculation- Ben Woodburn

by Zip » 09 Jan 2019 21:51

Liverpool are apparently recalling him from his loan at Sheffield United where he hasn’t had a look in. Apparently other Championship clubs are interested. Given our loan signings in this window he would fit the bill as a promising young player loaned to us from a big club.

A year ago this lad was the next big thing for the Wales national team whilst Harry Wilson’s career had stalled. Now the roles have been reversed. I was in Cardiff when Woodburn scores a cracker in the win v Austria. Loads of promise but he is small so not sure whether he is what we need at the moment.

We can't get another attacking midfielder in surely??? That isn't the area of concern. Would have definitely taken him at the start of the season though.

I was including wingers in the attacking midfielder bracket. Either way I don't think we need to spunk more money on creative players. Need a very good striker, goalkeeper and defensive cover. Could also do with a big stiff idiot in midfield if Eza leaves.

Ben Woodburn is a winger/striker more than a midfielder.

This sort of move would be more whelming than those so far in my meagre opinion but still think we need experience over potential.

By the way is there a limit on the number of loans the club can have at any one time? I think it's 5 in a squad on a matchday but is there a limit as to how many you can have in total (if Pereira arrives Reading would then have 4 loans).

I don't think there is a limit at a club, but like you said, there is in a match-day squad, which I think 5 is correct.

I would have doubts about his movements inside the box these days.

Or put him on the wing. We need someone with a bit of penetration to get round the back and deliver in some good balls.

Probably best to play him deep. And drill balls down the throat of the opposition.

To discuss players you'd like to see at the club or to create a talking point. Why is that a question you need to ask?

I genuininely cannot remember how I got through an 8hr day at work before the internet existed.

Actually, I do. I could get a day's work done in about 90 minutes so I became a union rep and spent about 4hrs a day wandering around the building shooting the breeze with mates under the pretence of union business.

"Put it on me 'ead" might be his instruction.
