The Three Guineas is the traditional away fan's pub, located directly on your right when you exit the train station.

As for trouble, I wouldn't expect any at all. We've mellowed considerably since we won the family club of the year award.

The pub right outside the station is where most of your fans will be drinking (if coming by train). The shuttle buses run straight to the ground from just round the corner of the station.

As for my prediction, 1-0 to us 8)

welcome...fraid there arent many pubs nearby
1. three guineas in station which is a mess at mo due to £1billion upgrade - ground is about 3-4 miles away from station (allow an hour to get there)
2. you can drink the foster p**s water in the ground concourse
3. stadium millenium hotel is for home fans only
4. world upside down pub/carvery - basingstoke road - 15-20min walk 1 mile to ground - maybe alot of home fans

1 is your best bet

you wont get much trouble

will be a close game - hard to predict as alot of players havent played in the prem - im hopeful for a win as we need a decent start

It takes me less than an hour to walk it, let alone when I get the bus.

If you're wearing colours, a number of other pubs in town won't let you in. 3 guineas is the best spot for away fans.

If your driving World Upside Down allows away fans. Great Expectations in London Street is also ok with away shirts. Easy 2-0 win for you.

Hello southern poofters  another Stokie here (you can't call us northern monkeys, we aren't techniclaly north)

A belated congratulations on your promotion, although we lost such a wonderful club like Bolton  , it's nice to have Reading up. I was hoping for reading away first game, and I was rewarded, not been before and it's our best chance of getting some points away from home this season. That's not cocky as I'm sure you're all thinking the same about us, which is fair enough. A draw (and this is genuinely the opinion of most Stoke fans) would be a good result for us away anywhere.

It's been about 5 years since we last played(late edit: Just remembered a League Cup game in 2008), 4 years since you unloaded that ginger tosser on us, and golly haven't things changed? We lingered in the same divisions for a pretty long time, but we now meet in the greatest division in the world (probably not the greatest in terms of skill, but excitement instead, an argument for another day).

I don't know much about Reading, their style of play or how good they are, ignorant I know, but unless you are in it the Championship is a hard league to follow every week. I hope there won't be much snobbery towards us before or after the game that we regularly encounter with teams like Swansea, WBA, Arsenal, Bolton and even fecking Norwich (apparantely, their hoofs to Holt are much more exciting to watch than our hoofs to Crouch).

Enjoy the season, hopefully you will carry on the trend of newly promoted clubs doing well in the last few years, but not at our expense. I predict an undeserved 1-0 win to us, after littering our goal, and heroic defending, we'll hoof it up to Crouch who will produce our only display of skill throughout the same to gift us the 3 points, it's how we roll.

According to Pies and Prejudice: In search of the North by Stuart Maconie, there is general agreement that the North starts at Stoke.

As a PieEater, I should know.

It's a weird one, the end of the Midlands is just before Crewe. Crewe can be 10-20 minutes drive away depending on whcih end of our glorious city you live in. Go to Crewe (it's a dump, I work there) and they'll distance themselves from us, probably with a few expletives thrown in. The north don't want us. Go south of our glorious city by 20-30 minutes and you reach an even bigger dump of the black country and they'll distance themselves, no idea about the expletives, all I hear is 'yam'. The midlands don't want us.

Anyway I don't know what I was trying to prove, all I've done is paint a picture of Stoke being akin to Roston Vasey.

You could be quoting from the book, I think the logic went that since Crewe is North, Wolverhampton is midlands, Stoke or just after Stoke must be where the North starts.

How do northern pies measure up against Londoner's pie & mash style pies?

you won`t get much change from 4 quid for a pint in there, most pubs charge more for stronger beers and less for weaker beers, but not the stupid guy that runs this place.

Absolute LOL at a Stoke fan coming on here saying it's their first visit here considering the amount of times they've played at the Madejski. Guess even Stoke have their plastics who've jumped on the PL bandwagon....
