Best team at the moment?

by Clyde1998 » 19 Oct 2025 16:31

What do people think our best team is at the moment, with everyone available?

I think potentially something like this could be an option with how everyone's playing at the moment, albeit a little left-field:
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Pereira _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ Burns _ _ O'Connor _ _ Williams _ _ _ _
Yiadom _ _ _ _ _ _ Fraser _ _ _ _ _ _ Ritchie
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ Wing _ _ _ _ Savage_ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Doyle _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Marriott _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

I think Burns and Williams haven't done enough to be dropped; O'Connor is probably our best centre-back. Three at the back could also assist in our defensive troubles.

The wing-backs of Yiadom and Ritchie would be able to get into advanced positions, whilst providing defensive cover. A midfield four provides the flexibility for players to switch around as the game progresses - sometimes a diamond; sometimes two twos; sometimes a flat three and a one; etc.

Marriott is probably obvious up top at the moment.

I think Hunt's making all the obvious right calls.

None of the three behind Marriott are making a very strong claim, all the fullbacks are much of a muchness.

Pereira and Williams are the key difference makers imo. Then you have Marriott, Wing and Savage as definite starters and the rest is a case of who is in form or not currently out of it.

Guess you could pick any one of the 21 above us currently.

Yep absolutely no idea. I guess you’d have o Connor, Wing, Savage, JP, Marriott

Beyond that pick a name out of a hat

Coming back to this, this is prob what I’d like to happen for the rest of the season at this point - actually don’t care who the manager is particularly

Pick up a run of wins to get us into mid table sooner rather than later
Send Doyle, Jacob and MoM back in Jan if we can. Wouldn’t be against Burns going back either

Set up roughly like this

JP
Abrefa O Connor Williams/Dorsett Ryan
Savage Wing
Kelvin Elliott Lane
Marriott/new striker

Subs from Stevens Ahmed Borgnis Spencer Ritchie Patton/Evans Osho, Fraser, Kyeweraa, Sackey

Prob move on Stickland, JOP and Rushesha

Start getting new contracts out to those on one year deals who deserve it, plus Savage and maybe Elliott (if he improves)

He’s been effective in this div before and we have him for 3? Years

But if he keeps being useless then swap him for Ritchie or Osho

Edit: forgot Garcia. He can come in for Lane
