QUOTES FROM THE PRESS

Jem Karacan's stunning long-range strike earned Reading a deserved point. Keith Treacy put Preston North End ahead when Iain Hume chased a lost cause on the right wing and teed up the winger who converted at the near post. But the Royals created the better chances and levelled after the interval when Karacan crashed home a delightful 25-yard half-volley. The hosts had Darel Russell sent off for a second yellow card late on but neither side could fashion a winner. Reading, who were without their influential captain Matt Mills because of suspension, made a slow start and Preston nearly went ahead when Billy Jones headed wide.
