New signing Marcus Hahnemann could well start in goal in place of Whitehead. Whitehead will of course be hoping to hold on to his place and force our new goalkeeper to sit it out on the bench. Jamie Ashdown will be looking elsewhere for some league football no doubt - even if just on loan at this stage. Otherwise Pardew should stick to the side that disposed of Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night.
