Re: Promotion team 'must haves'

Loan players were once considered a hindrance. I notice that has changed in the second half of this season.

Re: Promotion team 'must haves'

My personal feeling, and I haven't checked the records to see if there's a basis in fact for this, is that we must have at least one Icelander in the Reading starting eleven if we're to get anything.

Re: Next Season's Squad.

I was mostly memeing, but I think you're underestimating McEachran's defensive ability. This season McEachran made 2 tackles and 1.1 interceptions per 90. That was pretty standard for him - he's done better in two of his five seasons since he left Chelsea. That compares well to Rinomhota who made 2...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Norwich City (a) sponsored by James Harper

I like Farke. I think he's a good bloke doing a good job. But just like a lot of people, he's got a bit confused in his frustration. They created lots of chances, we only really created two or three. We got a bit lucky sometimes, they didn't. However, Reading clearly deserved to get the point. It wa...

Re: BFTG - Blackburn

Kelly was generally very poor and I was one of the few calling for him to come in  I think I counted 3 forward passes by him and everything else was sidewards if he wasn't losing the ball. Harsh to pick on one poster in particular, but in the interest of avoiding fake news, I feel obliged to ...

Re: Rumour - Mo Barrow

I go to watch football to be entertained. He is the only current Reading players where, when he gets on the ball and starts running at defences, the expectation in the crowd is audible.

nevo1970 Forest part company with the manager this morning. Could disrupt them a bit maybe?

I get the feeling we tend to struggle against teams that just lost their manager. Not sure if the stats back this up. Sure someone will pop up having done extensive research to prove me wrong though.

Snowflake Royal So we all agree that the best result is a 1-1 draw from a late Loader equaliser and a Ryan East debut, right?

Give us that beautiful money from a televised replay!

Oxford that. I'm a Reading supporter not an accountant. I hate the team in red so much it actually hurts. I want to win.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Manchester United (a) sponsored by down down deeper and down

Wish Gomes had thought to include someone who might score a goal in the match day squad. My greatest fear is not the media patronising us - they can hardly come out and say we're shit and doomed - but more the nauseating sycophancy the overcomes them when they visit the Theatre of Dreams. I oxford h...

Re: BBC Radio Berks

That's true, but my point was that we don't need to be. The "Dutch football is failing" idea is one of those that did the rounds with the tv pundits, based on the Netherlands missing out at the world cup, and a couple of big-name Dutch managers having poor seasons...and as is natural with...

Re: New Manager

From Despair To Where? That's why I'm thinking something happened last week to make Clement's position untenable.

That seems entirely possible. I really didn't believe he had been sacked without a real thought as to what comes next. Seems I was wrong.

Re: Clement sacked!

Obvs Howe had made his mind up long ago. Bit of a shame as I did think we were well on the right track. If we go back to McShane/Aluko/Edwards etc, going to be screwing basically Howe was in China prior to turning up at Elland Road. A plan was formulated then by the looks of things. The Chinese bou...

Re: New Manager

Just love the ambition of RFC supporters. It seems that our ideal prospects are 1) managers unsuccessful and struggling in the Prem. 2) managers struggling with teams at the bottom of the championship 3) ex RFC players, irrespective of experience and may be the same as 2) 4) anyone else that’s out ...

Re: Clement sacked!

Not at all happy with this. And not just because I said yesterday I thought the manager would stay  . Things were improving. And things had got so bad towards the end of Stam's tenure it was always going to be a slow rebuilding process. As others have said, look at the players he has improved,...

Re: Are we really going down this season

I don't think there's much chance of relegation, although of course, nothing is impossible.

In fact I'd say mid table is the most likely. We will get some players back. The youngsters will get more experience. The atmosphere behind the scenes will lift.

Re: Nigel Howe appointed new CEO

Good news. We desperately need continuity, calm, and a return to the Reading Way. The manager will stay, I'm almost sure. What will be more interesting is the Director of Football. We've seen nor heard nothing of Nani (Tevreden made himself available from the off and was pretty visible), and I belie...

Re: FA cup 3rd round draw

Would have preferred to have them at home, but frankly, this is far from impossible.

And the prize at stake is a place in round four and potentially getting Mourinho the sack. Something to dream about if nothing else.
