Re: Rival Watch

It's bizarre until you remember that it is Charlton. Not just Reading under a self imposed embargo. The fact that a promoted club is up for sale suggests that the (disliked) owners see this as a good opportunity to recover at least some of their investment. Suggests that this fills one of the 3 bot...

Re: Celtic Eye Moore

For any player at a club like ours, Celtic would be an incredible opportunity. To swap playing in front of 15k week in, week out to 58k is a draw. He will win trophies & Celtic are one of football's great clubs. Many players would love to experience an Old Firm game too. Add to that, European fo...

Re: UEFA Nations League

Seriously? No comment about that worryingly poor performance last night? I suppose 3 weeks without a game might be a factor but it looks like we’ve been rumbled already. I love the fact that we try to play out from the back but too many players have catastrophic mistakes in their lockers just waiti...

Re: VAR

The former, I would guess. Advantage is an in-play decision by the referee, not one that can be inferred afterward. He doesn't 'play advantage' whilst VAR is pending. Team A's goal stands if no penalty, and is chalked off if a penalty is given. That being said, VAR needs to be better than taking tw...

Re: VAR

Think yesterday showed exactly where VAR will be good. There was a foul on the Swiss player but one that the ref couldn't see, if he had seen it it would be a free kick anywhere on the pitch so should be a penalty. Regarding the delay and the game continuing, this is just something we will need to ...

Winston Biscuit I remember when he was the next big thing. Arsenal were permanently about to sign him, we were told.

And incredibly still just 25!

Re: RUMOUR - Hosam Aiesh

If we can get decent money for Barrow and replace him with a "younger model" then that would be good business. Would imagine Barrow is one of our bigger earners.

Re: UEFA Nations League

Does anybody really care? As much as I care about any tournament. The group stage was great but I think the gap between those and the finals definitely kills momentum. I also think, that in the UK at least, the games being on Sky only doesn't help. If the finals were on ITV then there would be more...

Re: UEFA Nations League

When we beat Croatia to qualify for these finals I thought the country would go mad, but the build-up has been massively underwhelming / overshadowed. I've backed Portugal and Holland to reach Sunday's final. Thoughts on England's chances ? Yep - it's been overshadowed by the behemoth that is club ...

Not Europe but the crazy story of Tigre who under the Argentine league system, finished 9th, were relegated then qualified for the Copa Libertadores.

Re: Next Season's Squad.

FYI, lower mid-table dross is a step up for us and may be a challenge given finances. Perhaps a different question is better then - what signings do we need to ensure safety next season? Literally no idea - we may already have enough of a squad to stay up. We don't know how good the Academy players...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

I can't work out if you are having a pop at me there or not? I can't work out how you'd think that was a pop. Just that while that is a crazy sacking, there have been crazier. ok, fair enough. I did think it was odd that you would, as that is not your manner, but I read it in an accusatory tone for...

Re: On this day

Little did we know how patched up our team was that day with a number of players turning out who were way off being 100% fit. I remember reading something Archie said some time later that he put the penalty to a different side than normal because he assumed that the Bolton keeper had watched videos...

Getting on for a quarter of a century ago. Only Reading fans well into their 30s will have any memory of this  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwk4Erxrsqs - let's pretend the rest of the day didn't happen. The biggest heartbreak in all of my years as a fan. I was devastated. I really thought...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

Jonathan Low very downbeat about our signing any of the loanees and also thinks Meite will be sold. I don’t agree. For a start our owner does not want Yaks to be sold and given our lack of goal power it would be very risky selling him. It’s more than that though. Yaks is a larger than life characte...
