Re: MATCHWATCH : Derby County (a)

Armadillo Roadkill Expect to see him rested from officiating this weekend.

Extremely unlikely, that only happens to Premier League referees, whose mistakes are given high visibility. No-one cares at L1 level.

Re: The phoenix club thread

Completely agree that AFC Reading would be horrible. 1871 Reading would be good, a permanent reminder of the original club. I certainly understand the feeling that it wouldn’t be the same club, but giving up following football seems like allowing Dai to win. The best possible response, if Dai causes...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Hmmm, not sure what I would do. I’m sure there would be a phoenix club, but unless I could guarantee ease of parking or rail journey, I’m not sure if I would be up for that. I would certainly miss the football, but not the journey, which has become increasingly difficult since I arrived in Sussex a ...

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

It's even more simple than that certainly in situations like ours - you make a rule that an owner cannot loan a club money - if they want to use a benefactor owner model then fine, but you make money when the club makes money when it loses money, you cover it. If an owner chooses not to, s/he has t...

Apart from selling the club, which is literally the only thing he can do and that we want him to do.

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

There are plans for each bus to do two runs so your options will be get there far too early or hang around after the game, the club will also lose the revenue from the matchday parking. Indeed. My season ticket for the car park last season cost more than the one for the football. Getting out of the...

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

I guess the key question now is how much money, if any, is left from the player sales and whether Dai is still providing any funds. Crunch time comes when the matchday revenue dries up. All that's coming in is next season advance season ticket sales. Even then 20% is paid over to the HMRC. Treading...

Re: Rival Watch

I'm still bewildered why we have 4 relegation spots in this division. I get it's how it's always been, but that's no reason to keep it. L2 gets an easy ride, 4 promoted and only 2 relegated. If it was only 3 down, I'd be about 95% confident of survival by now. As it is, it's more like 70%. I know i...

Classic comment last night when running through the league table, comparing points and games played with Reading. “Port Vale have two games in hand and one of those is against Reading.”

Re: How early have you taken your children to a game and it be ok?

I think my son was five (20 years ago) when I first took him to the MadStad. Neither of us remember anything about it! He was a few weeks shy of his 6th birthday when I took him to the first game of the following season at home to Brighton. We sat in the North Stand in the full glare of a baking hot...

Re: Injury watch 2023/24

Whatever has changed, it’s been under Selles’ watch and he deserves credit for it. For the last three seasons, we have consistently had an entire team on the injured list, several of those injuries having been sustained in training. If we were still in that position, we would be rock bottom of the t...

Sutekh - the Gerry Francis? A measure of his commitment (albeit more than 30 years ago) is that when he became manager at Bristol Rovers, he paid the transfer fee for a young player called Ian Holloway out of his own pocket.

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

Whoever does it, if it’s any kind of suspended punishment, they need to make it clear what would trigger the full deal. In other words, would a suspended points penalty only become effective in the event of another pitch invasion, or would a failure to pay players on time or lobbing tennis balls or ...

There would be nothing worse than the club going under and all the supporters did was to lob a few hundred tennis balls onto the pitch.

Sky Sports are giving the impression that the game is delayed by a tennis ball protest! The have, however, said that the fans’ frustration is understandable.

Re: I've lost count - Embargos, HMRC Payent defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

BBC report once again states that we have had ten points deducted this season. They have stated this so many times, I am starting to believe it. The report has probably dropped through a wormhole from May 2024. I thought the same thing. Mind you, it is the third time in the last 3 or 4 weeks ...
