Re: Ex Players

In all seriousness, it would seem McCarthy's distribution is unusually incisive. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11096/11523344/premier-league-goalkeepers-assessed-for-passing-style-and-goal-involvement Think that's consistent with what people said about him at the time. He didn't strike the...

Re: Ex Players

Agree that McCarthy shouldn't have been at a top club. He should have gone to Liverpool instead.

Re: Ex Players

Alex McCarthy to Liverpool being rumoured per BBC Gossip column to replace Mignolet as No 2 Good move for Liverpool not so good for Alex ... he'd earn more but he'd hardly play. When he left us he had the choice of QPR or Liverpool. He chose QPR because he thought he'd get more game time. He was wr...

Re: CONFIMRED - Lewis Ward to Exeter

Makes sense to lose one of him or Southwood, although I do hope there's a fee involved.

If Southwood goes now then I will not be happy.

Hound Apparently made some attempt to sign Abou Diaby’s brother who is a 6ft 2 defensive mid

Dunno how true of course

If he has half the talent Abou Diaby allegedly had then we could have ourselves a real player.

As long as he spends no more than half as much time on the treatment bench.

Re: Fixtures for 2019/2020

SW-SE is the worst of all. Only in a car!. Train to W'loo.. wloo East to Charlton. Short Walk. Simps Brentford - 65 bus to the door. Even more simps You've been here longer than me - last time we played Charlton I got SWR from Winnersh to Waterloo, the Jubilee line, and then a bus. That's still the...

Re: Fixtures for 2019/2020

How long does it take to go one side of London t'other? I only really do one easy route through, major station to major station? I live in Putney, not far from Craven Cottage in SW London. Takes me about 70 minutes to get to the vicinity of the Olympic Stadium in East London. Think it would take ab...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Very interesting read Maff- reminded me of a lot of players I had wiped from my memory. A few who I didn't notice you covering: Ji was joined on that two-year scholarship (not a trial) by Nam Tae-Hee and Kim Won-Sik. Nam has 44 caps for South Korea and currently plays for Al-Sadd in Qatar. Kim plays...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Obviously based off estimations but think we'd have a team similar to this had McDermott stayed: Al Habsi Gunter McShane Cooper Obita McCleary Evans Williams New Signing Kermorgant Rakels Difficult to say, but I don't think it would have looked *too dissimilar to Stam's with Al Habsi, Gunter, Obita...

Re: Mark Bowen as DoF

As far as I can tell, Mark Cartwright was the technical director at the time (and still is). Bowen was just assistant manager. Perhaps an expert would know better what the dynamic between them was and how it changed over time.

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Only if you ignore Stam's second season. Easily conceivable that he could have take us to 12th and 8th. Stam's second season was bad largely due to some of our worst recruitment since the Burns era. Bod was our only decent striker, Beerens and Al-Habsi got homesick, at least three players had caree...

Re: Mark Bowen as DoF

Some Stoke fan on Twitter says he would be a terrible DoF. Something about signings made under his watch while there. He seemed to have a huge hand in our up turn in results what with all the formation shifts to counter teams. Their transfers in during Hughes' first few seasons are incredible :o Ma...

Re: Are we screwed?

Assuming that there are few if any signings I think we have to be realistic that if the squad as it is now can finish 21st or better next season that would be a success. Then at the end of next season another whole load of high earners will leave - which might provide a bit more wriggle room for ne...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

Wouldn't get too carried away with these rumours. If it's true then I would guess we think can get a fee for Southwood due to his status, but that Ward is actually around the same level and we don't have room for them both. I don't know much about our U18 goalkeepers from last season, but Ward as fi...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

I don't think there's any reason to fret just yet. Most clubs still haven't started their business and the only newsworthy transfer - excluding pre-arranged ones - has been Jovic to Madrid. All business done before the start of July seems completely unrealistic on Gomes' part (the start of August mi...
