Re: World Cup 2026

So with three-team groups, and two teams out of each group going through, FIFA are going to need to do something to stop a Germany v Austria situation arising. The current four-team groups mean they can just have the final games for all group members kicking off at the same time, but this is obvious...

Re: Record Watch 2017/18

Snowflake Royal Such a shame we fell 1 goal short.

Indeed - we would have been the first team to hit 100 points and 100 goals in one season. I'm pretty sure that by missing out by just one goal we came closer to doing it than any other team.

Re: Record Watch 2017/18

Imagine if luton win every single game the rest of the season and get 106. Real danger of wolves doing it. I really don't see them losing the 3 games/ 2 games and 2 draws Once they're up they'll take their foot off the gas, and that's when the draws start to happen. In the 106 season, we had 79 poi...

Re: What innovation would improve the league in the future?

I liked the idea that was implemented a few years ago that let refs punish dissent at a free kick by moving it forwards 10 yards. Certainly seemed to reduce the amount of backchat that took place once players realised what was going in.

Re: Your Favourite/Least Favourite RFC Penalty Incident

Also enjoyed a Hahnemann save vs Watford, 02/03 season I think Came in to post this one. The obvious ones deservedly get precedence (Murty v QPR, Harte v West Ham, Federici v Brighton) but this was an outstanding save. I think it was Neil Cox who took the penalty, and absolutely leathered it into t...

Re: Play Off Question

Think it was 2003 or so. WHU haven't played this well since their first 40 minutes against us.  It was QPR they played - just said on Sky In Cardiff, which probably helped. And the fact that the fire alarm in the hotel the QPR team were staying at was set off by one of Sam Hammam's forme...

I'd give my left bollock for Forest Green away

Went to a friendly there a few years ago, at the old ground, so would be good to do the new ground. It was a Tuesday night game, so to make a day of it we spent the day at the WWT's Slimbridge Reserve.

Worth reading the comments to that article - the guy who wrote it isn't getting a lot of respect on there (and rightly so IMNSHO).

Re: Stadium Expansion

And without wishing to repeat myself too much from the 'Area around the stadium is drab' thread, some more amenities would be good. ^^ This. Some out-of-town stadiums have decent amenities around them - for instance, IIRC, the DW Stadium has a reasonable number of eateries in the same area, and eve...

Re: Four years in the Championship

We seem to specialise in 4-year stints at a level recently, spoiled by only spending 2 years in the Prem. Since the 1994/5 season our record has been: Tier 2: 4 years (1994/5 to 1997/8) Tier 3: 4 years (1998/9 to 2001/2) Tier 2: 4 years (2002/3 to 2005/6) Tier 1: 2 years (2006/7 to 2007/8) Tier 2: 4...

Its because we aren't in the Championship.......

Surely by that logic you'd also need to rule out Portsmouth and Doncaster?

Re: West Ham v Birmingham

Have we lost 2 league games in a row since the start of the season? We certainly haven't this year. If we start now, I'll be surprised. Last nights point for WHU is only good if we suddenly break from form. Yes - we lost the 3rd through 6th games. But since then we've not lost two or more league ga...

Re: Record Watch 2011-12

As each season goes by it makes you realise what a great record it is will take some team to beat it. To think we were promoted before the clocks changed! Chrarlton will have to wait a few weeks before they can crack open the champagne. The night of. Remember being in the AD and it being party cent...

Re: Rivals to the "106" team?

Not just lack of injuries, but excellent discipline played a part in them all playing so many games - and that's not down to luck. Something I still find amazing is that, in the 2004/5 and 2005/6 seasons, Ingi and Sonko played in a total of 175 (out of a possible 184) league games between them (Ing...
