And at the other end, wait for the shitstorm if City win the title this season and only then are found guilty of various charges.

Re: Weekend Football

I want them to go down due to points deductions purely for the backlash. Without deductions they'd be two points from safety, with five games left. Their fixture list at least puts in their hands - they still have to play Forest, Luton and Sheffield United, albeit the latter will be relegated by th...

Re: Ups & Downs 23/24

Rotherham going down means Barnsley have to go up now, if my conspiracy theory is to be proven correct that the clubs have an agreement to switch places with each other every season and they have never actually played each other. There is something in this. In the last decade, despite both clubs be...

Re: Ups & Downs 23/24

Remains of course very unlikely, but Leicester, Ipswich and Leeds can all still reach 100 points. Highest points total in the EFL not to achieve promotion is 90, Leeds currently four short of this in third, with five to play.

Sutekh
Loafer I wish Rotherham would just stop getting promoted, they're oxf*rd boring

Certainly for next season anyway!

In the 51 seasons since they were relegated to the bottom tier in 1972/73, Rotherham have changed division 22 times, including in six of the last seven seasons.

Re: Weekend Football

I don't think Cole Palmer will be at Chelsea long, can see him getting a huge move to a Real Madrid or PSG in the next year or so. I liked his attitude post game, he's extremely cold and focussed. Seems like a winner. The 'Cold Palmer' celebration makes my eye twitch. But yeah, top class player, he...

Re: Weekend Football

Something ominous about City swatting aside a very good Villa team last night. And this is now Foden's best goalscoring season by some distance, he has 21 in all competitions. On the wider Premier League, it's encouraging that, even in Kane's absence, six of the top ten goalscorers - Solanke, Bowen,...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

Leverkusen aren't letting their unbeaten run go lightly. 7th March, 2-1 behind in Qarabag, they equalised in the 92nd minute. 14th March, 2-1 down at home to Qarabag after 93 minutes and heading out of the Europa, they score twice and win the tie. 30th March, 1-0 down at home to Hoffenheim with 88 m...

Re: England - the future....

For the third time, 'VARIANCE' Say Man Utd make it to the FA Cup final would I rather they play the stronger Man City or the weaker Chelsea Or switching it around would Man City rather play Man Utd or Coventry in the final? If we are rating teams we may use some exponential weighting on the latest ...

Re: England - the future....

Come on, you surely can't dispute that first run to the semi's was about as easy a route as you could get. England played Sweden in the QFs essentially because Germany lost to South Korea in the group stage. I don't buy the 'easy route' stuff. If you don't play someone because they've already gone ...

Re: England - the future....

No my point is with a little more attacking intent Italy were there for the taking. Watching it live at the ground, it was incredibly frustrating. Football isn't played in isolation like that. A bit more attacking intent might have seen us lose to the odd goal in another three, with the skilful Ita...

Re: England - the future....

It’s quite a similar situation with West Ham under Moyes who have been superb in his four years in charge, yet the majority of West Ham fans want him gone because they’re bored of their style. It may be a fair argument in isolation but when people start finding excuses for their success, it sort of...

Re: Ups & Downs 23/24

It is mathematically possible for a Championship side to reach 100 points this season and not be promoted. Max points - Leicester 106, Ipswich 105, Leeds 104. A record will surely go though - the most points accumulated by a side that failed to win promotion in the EFL is 90, held jointly by Sheffie...

Re: England - the future....

Again, you are defining 'easier' by ranking, when one of the higher ranked sides, Spain, only avoided England because they couldn't beat Sweden or Poland in the group stage. If they couldn't beat Sweden or Poland, why would they have been tougher opposition for England?
