Re: WC 2014 Semi Final Germany Vs. Brazil

also - if there's ever been a more surprising scoreline (not result) in a major international football game then it's escaped me.

Re: WC 2014 Semi Final Germany Vs. Brazil

To me, watching this in a pub surrounded by plastic face-painted Brazilians is conclusive proof that a footballing god exists. Won't forget the stunned silence towards full-time, interrupted only by laughter at the Brazilian consolation goal (bit like getting an annual bonus of £27.50). F*ck off Bra...

Re: WC 2014 Brazil v. Colombia

I'm going to refrain from conspiracy theories, but it's not good to see another terrible refereeing performance in Brazil's favour and it only makes me more keen for Germany to do them in the semi finals.

Re: WC 2014 2nd round Brazil V Chile

I'm really starting to take a powerful dislike to this Brazil team. Now that's a sentence I never thought I'd utter.

Re: WC 2014 Match 22 - Uruguay vs England

I think there is a reasomable argument made there by I-R. Certainly in the second line. As for the game - England lost a relatively tight game to a team that is generally seen as on the same level/slightly better than England. They are out* because they lost in a similar manner to another team that...

Re: WC 2014 Match 22 - Uruguay vs England

Yeah you're right of course, the goals were well-taken by a world-class player (albeit a half-fit world-class player). Uruguay as a whole are nothing special at the moment though, nothing on their 2010-11 side and with a lot of players past their peak or not yet ready. But they were better by some ...

Re: WC 2014 Match 23 - Japan vs Greece

Very good defensive performance by Greece. Can't really have a go at them for being unambitious, it's what they do and they probably had the better chances on the counter. Had high hopes for Japan but they've not impressed this tournament. As for the notion that Japan 'deserved to win' - as the Atle...

Re: WC 2014 Match 22 - Uruguay vs England

Poor defeat against a totally average Uruguay side. Yes the goals were well taken by Suarez, but there were multiple mistakes in the build-up to each one (as with Italy's goals) and you can't expect to get out of your group like that, never mind make a run at the latter stages. Shame as the Italy pe...

Re: World Cup Pundits

Already getting so riled up by some of the punditry. Mark Lawrenson acts like a cynical schoolboy who can't be arsed to do anything except sit there making snide comments. Cannavaro, heroic footballer as he is, can't speak English. Danny Murphy saying that 'we don't know much about player x'. I know...

Re: WC 2014 - Match 7 - England vs Italy

Another good game in what is a great World Cup so far. Encouraging first-half performance from England, but things dropped off very quickly after the break and we were well beaten in the end. What on earth was going on with our left-hand side? - Darmian (sp) had ridiculous amounts of space time and ...

Think Mexico will just nick it 2-1. Don't expect either of them to qualify though, they're both dogshit.

I've not seen that many great previews but this one isn't bad and the 4-4-2 one is pretty sleek. Starting to get excited now.

Re: World Cup Build Up Thread

Woke up early. Threw on 2006 world cup video, narrated by Ian Darke. Lovely stuff. Germany WC 2006 In a word = Cannavaro Absolutely. Germany v Italy was one of the most engrossing WC games I have ever seen. Cannavaro charging out of defence like a maniac at 1-0, winning the ball, three passes later...

Re: BFTG - Donny (a)

That was a game of three thirds - the first hour was dreadful, but the last half hour was good. For such an important game, the lack of urgency in the first hour was startling. There were far too many long balls, especially given the windy conditions. I'd single out McCarthy, Gunter and Morrison as ...

Re: Oman (H)

Not surprising. There's an effort in Oman to have them inducted into the Championship next year. They think playing in Asia is holding them back. Apparently the Football League are receptive to the idea because there's a big untapped tv market there. I think we should be pretty ashamed to be involv...
