Re: Ex Players

Got it from Amazon today. £18 for a 175 page paperback and his time at Reading is done and dusted in 21 pages. Would never have passed a half competent medical to join us and everyone's a "great lad" except Tommy Burns. Slightly disappointed, if I'm honest. To be fair he did have that ass...

Re: Rumour - Jack Tucker

Gillingham have signed central defender Max Ehmer from Bristol Rovers leading to new speculation about Reading signing Mr Tucker. To be honest unless he is obviously better than Moore, Morrison, Holmes or McIntyre I can’t see any point in him signing.

Re: Euro 2020

If Italy beat Wales 2-0 then I believe Switzerland would have to beat Turkey by at least 3 to get second place. While I can see Italy and Switzerland both winning their last games I can’t see either the Swiss being good enough to bag athenee requisite number of goals or that Wales get taken apart by...

Re: Earliest WC memory

1970 - I remember bits of games, but have seen so many clips so often since, I wouldn't swear blind that they are my memories from actually watching at the time or not. What I do vividly remember is being distraught at Italy losing the Final. this, and having gathered the full Esso England Squad co...

Re: The Non - League thread

... Sad news possibly from the Isthmian South Central - Whyteleafe have announced their withdrawal from next season's league. Reading their statement on the club site, would suggest they were stitched up by former owners and the current one's want them out of the Church Rd ground. This in spite of ...

Re: England - the future....

I see the Scottish media are starting to bring out quotes about English arrogance and complacency which could be our downfall on Friday. Have the people saying this been living in a vacuum in the past 5 years? There has never been a less arrogant, less complancent England team that this one under S...

Re: Euro 2020

Am I the only one who didn’t think they were that bad? Missed a few chances, didn’t give much away, slightly unlucky with a few deflections etc Difference being the quality of finishing but that aside, thought Scotland made a fairly good account of themselves Yes and no. Yes in that they created pl...

Re: England - the future....

Mad to think that, including internationals, Donnarumma has played 278 games already. He turned 22 in February. Wish there was a database with this stuff, most appearances/goals at certain ages, etc. Jude Bellingham is on 95, and could conceivably make 98 appearances before he turns 18. Sessegnon h...

The intention is to make the Copa every 4 years played in the same summer as the Euros so why can’t they just wait to 2024 for the next one given the current mess ?

Re: Earliest WC memory

1974 tournament. Found world cups to be the greatest thing to watch until 1994 when we got what I think was one of the most tedious competitions and since then it’s not really regained much of it’s magic. These days the utter dullness of nearly everybody playing possession-ball has especially killed...

Re: Euro 2020

That 2nd could well be goal of the tournament Feel the curse of Scottish goalkeepers is alive and well. How far had Marshall decided to move up the pitch? Absolutely superb strike though, guess it’s one of those you see the opportunity and you just hope you get the technique perfect when you hit it.

3points Surely a predominantly gold away kit is the order of this season?

Possibly something akin to the 1988 away kit may well be likely

Re: Esneyder Mena

Gives me a bit of the Paolo Hurtado feels. Although nice to see an attacking FB linked. Yiadom is quick but really isn’t that great once he gets in the final third. A senior LWB is bound to be a target and the window isn’t open yet, so not sure why people are bemoaning this. Completely forgotten ab...

Re: Euro 2020

karbota England started strongly had the best chance but faded badly in the last quarter. About evens at the break.

Game will peter out into a dull snoozefest as it’s too hot to play football and no-one wants to make the mistake that loses the opening group game.

Re: Ex Players

Olly Pendlebury (who was released this summer) has signed for Wycombe They have a thing for our former players. I guess they're a pretty attractive club for our younger players as well. Close to home, presumably, know the area, good set up and have probably heard good things from other players. Are...
