Re: The Danny Loader conundrum

Played really well today, seems completely different to how he was at first. Definitely showing signs of a player worth keeping around

Re: The Danny Loader conundrum

Think Loader will surprise a few next season, seems very common these days to see youngsters suddenly burst into the scene. Give him a new contract which reflects him as a squad player, Gomes stops thinking he’s a striker, don’t loan him out(league one is the worst place he can go to) and I’m very s...

Re: Speculation - Players From The Relegated Trio

Vaulks is the only person I’d consider alongside Ajayi. All three have crap squads and honestly whilst Rotherham tried, Ipswich and Bolton have been an embarrassment.

Re: End of season contracts

Also not sure McShane is the answer as "character we want in the dressing room" - he can be difficult, and has poor relationships with virtually every manager he has ever worked under, prior coming to Reading - and there's no reason why that would be any different now. I guess O Shea won'...

Re: End of season contracts

Isn’t O’Shea the ideal one for the O’Shea role ? When he came it was said it would be a one year playing deal then a move into coaching. If you have acentre back with 100 plus caps On the staff do you need another old pro hanging around as well ? He’s far too old for me personally, but if he gets a...

Re: End of season contracts

For the O’Shea role so as a mentor for our younger players, I firmly believe he’s the kind of character we want in the dressing room which is just as important as a first teamer imo. If we do find someone a similar age but better I’m all for it having said that, just being realistic at this point. ...

Re: End of season contracts

What role is McShane worth keeping for ?he is a nice bloke, does a lot of great community work but his days as a championship centre back are behind him. There will be plenty of seasoned pros available if we want some experience in the squad and I would agree we need a reliable partner for Moore wh...

Re: Which of the loanees would you prioritise?

I said he got a new contract under Gourlay Which part of that is wrong? Where did I say Gourlay wasn’t nominally the CEO at the time ? Your comment was misleading though. Owners might say "Don't Sell" but it's still the DoF or CEO who actually signs off on the details of the contract. The...

Re: End of season contracts

Don’t think Gomes rates Harriott so I see him leaving, glad we gave him the chance to regain his squad role but just isn’t the same anymore. Can see Bodvarsson, Kelly, Baldilocks all being forced out though. McShane is worth keeping around imo, but if he does leave we need a defender in his prime t...

Re: Which of the loanees would you prioritise?

Martinez and Miazga are too good for us. Baker is a must as is Oliveira, I strongly disagree with the census on Ejaria though- he’s really grown into the team of late and I really do like how he seems to be willing to do defending unlike Swifty. I don’t see any aside from Oliveira coming permanently...

Re: Swift to Leeds

Open to selling anybody for the right offer, I trust the club to make a good decision this time round and for Howe and Gomes to actually spend it properly. Thank the Lord Gourlay took the hint and buggered off before January.

Re: Rumour - Pedro Neves

Seems very highly rated, which asks the question of why Everton never gave him a professional deal. Either way, worth a punt. Does terribly we won’t lose any sleep, does well we have a good player in our hands to sell or use.

Re: Have Reading ever had a player like a "Pogba B"

In terms of how influential I’d argue John Swift, when he has a good game he’s unstoppable at this level. Just wish he wasn’t so frustratingly inconsistent, because he’s a hell of a player.

Still can’t believe people thought we didn’t need him, he’s heads and shoulders above this team.

Re: BFTG Wednesday (A)

definitely not too late If we are correct in thinking Ipswich and Bolton are likely down (obvs a big assumption but nothing to suggest otherwise), then its a straight shoot out between us and Rotherham, No real excuse to lose that one looking at the comparative squads etc Lets hope not, I can see s...

Re: BFTG Wednesday (A)

Can only be a matter of time until we turn those draws into wins. Ipswich look down and out, Bolton very close to joining them then there’s us and Rotherham, with Millwall and Wigan losing their ground on us as we speak. Think it might be too little too late now though, not showing any signs of imp...

Re: Gomes: Early Form Check In

You are comparing apples and oranges. Let’s look at our first 7 league games- 5 points Gomes- 6 points Clement vs sides played in comparison with Gomes: 4 points Gomes: 6 points Gomes played 6 of those games vs a top half side at the time with a team low on confidence who hadn’t won in 6 games and ...
