Re: Who do you consider to be a rival?

Back in my early days at EP, (mid 60s), it was always Swindon, Oxford, Watford and Bristol Rovers. Bournemouth less so and also Gillingham. Aldershot, 4th Div in that era, were not even on the radar.

Re: Rival Watch

Nothing against Warnock, he is committed, passionate and a brawler. Just what we need in the short term at least. Will this mean we can't call him Colin any more?

Re: Stadium renaming.

Coley Park I believe (or at least they definately played there sometime around then) Self correction, moved on from CP to Caversham Cricket ground in 1889..then to EP I for one was livid when we moved from Caversham CG to EP. It just wasn't the same  Caversham was in Oxfordshire back then. Pe...

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

I can understand, though not condone the sense of entitlement that supporters of some 'big' clubs display. However effective they have been in the last few years, Watford are not footballing giants and are less successful at this level than Reading. It wasn't that long ago that we were rivals in Div...

Innocent until proven otherwise. Why are mods permitting speculation on a matter now the scope of a possible prosecution anyway?

Re: Rival Watch

Gonna throw a hypothetical at you all, fans who have actually experienced the Reading - Oxford rivalry, would you want them to win the play-offs to get that rivalry back next season? Getting the rivalry back will be great, i miss the good old days playing Oxford, Swindon and Aldershot, however, it ...

In 1965, my father took me to an FA Cup game against Brentford. We won 5-0. Ever since that day etc etc

STAR Liaison
Didcot being historically part of Berkshire ...

Until 1974

When we also lost Abingdon and got Slough in exchange.

And..have the ridiculous situation of the Berkshire Downs being in Oxfordshire

Re: Top 5 Rivals

Back in the 60s it was Swindon, later Oxford came through from Div 4 and were also rivals.

In those palmy days no one was quite sure where Aldershot was. We did have a couple of cup games c1967, but any form of competition was strictly limited until Reading were relegated in 1971

Sutekh I’m sure Reading would be the right plaice for either of them.

Looking at plaices in Coley, so I've heard...

Re: BFTG - Norwich

Been a Reading fan for over 50 years...blah blah etc. As l now live in South Africa, l only see the odd televised games. This is all so sad. The life seems to have gone from the squad. Would new management be the answer? I remember the Third...and Fourth Divisions. We really don't want to go back th...
