Re: Next seasons kit choice?

How have they lost any space? What's it been replaced with? Apparently it`s for stock storage- previously as they didn`t have any room at the stadium it was kept in Maidenhead !! Absolutely staggering that they are giving up retail space for storage. I should imagine they used to make a fair amount...

Re: Pre season tour

I'd question them stats or there is a big dip in that goal!! https://www.readingfc.co.uk/teams/first-team/goalkeeper/joao-virginia/ Other sources have him at 1.92m or 6ft 3" He looks small and as others were commenting around me yesterday, in the pre match huggle fest he was noticeably shorter...

Re: Pre season tour

For me the team picks itself at the moment with others knocking on the door. In my opinion we are stronger than we were pre Gomes and I think we are one striker away from being stronger than end of last season. Keeper worries me. Neither assured at all. Virgina has no presence about him and surpris...

Re: Blue-collar streetfood

Burger stall outside the ED stand ran out during half time. Saw Jackie Evans from the club there looking less than impressed. Let’s just hope it was first day teething problems. Bonus for the vegan outfit next door, they were doing a roaring trade. Probably catered on the basis of a whole load of v...

Re: CONFIMRED - Matt Miazga

PistolPete I’m on my own here, but I don’t see Miazga as a top championship defender.

He defended admirably at the end of last season, but I don’t think he’s all that.

I’d be very happy to be proven wrong!

Prepare to smile then!

Re: CONFIMRED - Matt Miazga

I would say if we can keep Meite fit and hungry he will score more than enough goals, he was a beast in the 2nd half of last season. I won't panic too much if we don't get another striker in. We have Novakovich and Loader in reserve too. Haven't the likes of Williams and Gooding always said that id...

This is Reading, not many do If even 1% of those who regularly attend Reading's matches answer the survey, he'll have more than enough - from just this one team. Why do some people feel obliged to post a negative comment about absolutely everything? Have filled in the survey. I'd like to know the p...

Re: Next seasons kit choice?

Surely there isn't much to gain. It's hardly likely to result in many extra units shifting, just a bit earlier. So if there is a cost attached to releasing earlier it's a no brainer. You would have to plan well in advance to move the release date, so what you make up in one year from positive end o...

Re: Financial Fair Play

This may well have been a non-story with unpaid wages (Bolton, Bury etc.) being the latest trend in reporting football club matters. How did the National Press get hold of the story? Presumably a player or other member of staff was a bit miffed so leaked the info or was it our Defence Secretary who...

Re: Twenty’s Plenty

Where does stooping down to the other clubs level get you? We should be at the forefront of trying to change the ticket pricing and indeed Ipswich gave up cheap tickets this season in direct response for us doing it for them. Just because other clubs are greedy bastards doesn't mean we need to be. ...

Re: Nigel Howe CEO statement

A good statement, clearly aimed at managing expectations.

Far better than some of those issued by his first boss at the club who would get over enthusiastic and build expectations up to fever pitch levels, only for them to be dashed by reality.

Under promise and over deliver. I'll settle for that.

Re: Nine Very Difficult Games - Predictions?

I know it matters little, but would be really nice not to finish below Millwall and QPR I think the way you've phrased that illustrates one of the many differences between Clement and Gomes. Clement would probably talk about not finishing below those two clubs whereas Gomes would talk about finishi...

Is he now our youngest ever scorer? I think previously it was Shane Long Shane Long scored against Derby on 31/12/2005 - Aged 18 years 11 months 9 days Danny Loader scored against Boro' on 27/04/2019 - Aged 18 years 7 months 30 days. Re: Liam Moore Interview

It's commendable to put yourself out there like that as a Pro footballer, and he sounds like a good chap, emphasising that effort > talent a lot in the interview, which is one of those things that is very much the reading way. When we have overachieved (under McDermott especially) it has been becau...

Re: Club 1871 - the What, When, Where, How, Who & Why Thread

Baggies fans were very complimentary about C1871 and many said it was up there with the best home support they heard this season. Brilliant to hear! Also commented that the Dolan were loud at times with their clappers, which we don’t all like I appreciate but they work well in that stand! They did ...

Re: BFTG - Baggies

The good thing about the English system is because we finished so low in the table we get a high draft pick, otherwise the league would just be won by the big guys who spend the most money. Valid point. Dare I contrast this with the US system where Atlanta Utd who won the MLS Cup in 2018 but are bo...

Re: BFTG - Baggies

Oliveira has been immense for us. It was clear he hadn’t got over the hamstring injury and had only learnt how to manage it for the run in. Some plebs have been suggesting he’s injury prone and it’s ‘another’ injury but it’s clearly the same one. If we can bring him in for around £3m then that is a...
