Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Not forgotten, just considered him in an earlier wave, with HRK, Karacan, Pearce, Cox... etc. McCarthy and Hamer should be in with that lot too. Would add Andresson, Smith and Novakovich to that list too. Not sure what happened with Andresson, I thought he looked decent in his brief spells Two thin...

Re: Ex Players

Düsseldorf are in the top flight so not surprising he’s finding it a bit harder, but he did look good enough for that level when he was here. I think he’d walk into this side tbh. Rino’s in reasonable form but he’s not a patch on Baker. Totally wrong role for him. Rinomhota gets around, shields the...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

When you look back it's not been as good as it should have, but it's not been bad and we've had plenty of appearances. Kuhl, Tshibola, Taylor, Hector, Cooper, Kelly, Tanner, Stacey, Fosu, Samuel, Keown, DIckie, Hyam, Obita, Watson, McIntyre, Osho, Richards, Olise, Barrett, Loader, Rinomhota, Ward, ...

Re: Swift's new role

Willock's very good at keeping the ball moving quickly, passing with purpose, shielding the ball, reading the game, and winning the ball high up the pitch.

I think he could probably do with adding a little bit more in the final third. Hopefully that goal against Liverpool is a sign of things to come.

Re: Swift's new role

you know the way the ball seems to stick to his feet, when oppo players are trying to get it off him? Sometimes it seems like it sticks to his feet when he wants to shoot too, and he just can't set it up right for what he wants to do! Not sure if said in jest but I genuinely think this is true. Dam...

Re: BFTG - Luton

We’re so bloody good. Swift is a revelation. He’s always had the ability to split a defence but now he can do it in so many different ways, he can dictate from deep, he can switch the play, he plays passes that nobody else can see. It was like watching Iniesta today. Also need to patronise McCleary ...

"Utter drivel" and "clueless" in the space of a couple of days. Do you not wonder why your debating skills would not be sadly missed? He’s clearly got mental problems, so probably best to leave him be Whether he has mental problems or not is irrelevant to whether he is a pleasan...

Looks like Derby have terminated Keogh’s contract So sack the passenger but let the other 2 plebs who were driving carry on as though nothing has happened (bar a fine) Confused by their logic tbh It's pretty clear isn't it? Keep the young players who committed a crime as they have sell on value. Sa...

Re: Ejaria vs Siggy

There’s a reason Stam had him second choice (behind the “awful” Joey - well according to most posters), Clement didn’t play him, Lampard barely played him. Because he had no influence on a game I wouldn’t say he was particularly good at positioning and defending. We still conceded a shed load with ...

Re: Ejaria vs Siggy

Evans is underrated imo. Wasn’t a flashy player but he read the game very well, excellent positionally, made defending look easy rather than having to fly into tackles. The players we’ve signed permanently to replace him - Meyler, Adam, and Pele - have all failed to meet his standards. Baker far sur...

Re: Ejaria vs Siggy

What a ridiculous comparison. Gylfi was possibly the best player we’ve ever had. Ejaria isn’t even our best midfielder right now. That might change in the future but right now there’s no contest. +1 Although i assume you're saying Swift is better. Swift's best moments are better. I think Ejaria loo...

Good to see Nolan back on the bench and Lawless back starting.

Any ideas on formation? I don't know anything about Beeden or Caetano.

I’m grateful to Royals and Racers for his information about the Brentford game this evening.

Unfortunately something came up at work so I won’t be able to make the kickoff.

Re: Footballing philosophy

Safe to say he’s probably pretty similar to Mark Hughes. Think it would be difficult to pin down Hughes’ philosophy - his Blackburn team were counter attackers based around Bellamy, Pedersen and Bentley, but his Stoke team were more about little technical players like Shaqiri and Arnautovic. So I’d...
