Re: Old Reading Footage on VHS/film/Youtube

I've just emailed the club with a list of home games from the 1970's & 1980's which I remember had local TV cameras present (they used to set up in the South Bank)....not seen them emerge on utube so hopefully these can be resurrected if someone there has good media contacts.

Re: Players who virtually won us games/promotion/avoided relegation on their own

Trevor Morley got half our goals late 90's one season, we probably would have gone down without them

Re: Worst ever Reading FC X1

For an actual side that played together I'd go with 1982-83 team, simply because we had the top scorer in the entire football league (Kerry Dixon) and still got relegated. We'd have been down at Christmas without his goals.

Re: Worst Reading Player

Half Horse If you suggested anyone other than Malcolm Swain then you are too young to have seen him "play"

Agree - and as someone else said Martin James from the same team runs him a close second

Re: Worst Reading Player

I know his name has already come up but surely Hope Akpan has to win this hands down. Not once do I ever remember him kicking the ball in the direction he intended to. Truly woeful. Whatever was Coppell thinking? Honorable mention to Liam Rosenior. He might have got away with his totally limited st...

Re: We simply must top this list.............

I'm surprised the Middlesboro side of the mid 70's isn't on that list; won the league by 16 points when it was 2 points for a win

Re: Worst ever Reading FC X1

This is really difficult as I go back to 1970 and the fourth division days, when we finished 16th in 1972 and some of that side (Malcolm Swain and Martin James have been mentioned) played like they had signed from a Prospect Park Sunday morning side, but in fairness were probably paid peanuts. So ma...

Re: Old Reading Footage on VHS/film/Youtube

There is a thread about Robin Friday on a Cardiff City messageboard I post on. They have always known I support Reading. There is a dispute about whether Friday did crap in Lawrenson’s kit bag. Does anyone know if it was true? That's been a rumour for years, I think it was his last ever league game...

Re: Best Reading FC performances in your lifetime

Anybody able to provide more information on this match (HNA match report archives don’t go back this far)? Wednesday 8 December 1982 Football League Group Cup Quarter Final Reading 5-3 Watford (aet) I’d been married less than a year and been “allowed out” to see the game. Memory is a bit hazy but I...

Best attacking: 6-0 Vs West Ham H 2006 - Prem League...speaks for itself, needed the win too as had started to slide down the table a bit 4-0 Vs Blackpool A 1994 - absolutely murdered them second half and were applauded off at the end by the home fans Best defending: 0-0 Southampton A 2005...I'll ne...

Scored a vital goal at the end of the season V Lincoln (champions that season - start of Graham Taylor's success)

I'm sure its one of the few clips of us back then that's on U Tube

Never realised he was captain that season

[Tony Le Mesmer: There is a Royals Gems for 84-86 I believe, although sadly the 85-86 winning run is not part of it due to Strike Action.] Yes, I can see that now on the fella's promotional leaflet - such Gems as games v Bognor, Wealdstone and New Zealand but sadly not the 4-3 v Plymouth or the 2-2...

Its a joke.

Wimbledon and Open Golf both in July - cancelled.

I just can't see how the games get played unless they make radical changes to next season

Re: What got you into supporting RFC?! And when you did who was your nearest team?

Family - kind of - but my parents were Southampton fans. We lived by Prospect Park though so I used to go with my brother; first game Spring 1971 and we were relegated to Div 4 for the first time at the end of that season. I never saw the appeal of following Liverpool/Leeds/Arsenal who won all the d...

The problem with stats is they generally relate to past events ie HISTORY.

And there is no history to this virus either....

Re: Coronavirus outbreak

In the UK, 1700 died (est. 34k global deaths) n the last flu season we have records for. If more or less people end up dying from this is academic. These will be extra deaths that wouldn't have otherwise occurred. Deaths will always lag behind cases as well, as it takes quite a few days before peop...

A player who completely disrespected another club's players because they didn't close him down, who was a flakey individual at be...
