Re: No.13 - Will We Turn Up?

100% YES. Not even up for debate in my book. First season ticket was 1980/1981 season, having already been going for 10 years prior to that. So have recently purchased season ticket for 30th consecutive season. Enjoy the good times, hate the bad times. It can't always be good, and it certainly isn't...

Re: League Cup 1st round draw

HC wrote "Must really ring home that how big that relegation from the Prem was a couple of years ago when you play Burton at home in round 1 of League Cup." Talking tripe pal. Reading have been in the first round of the League Cup for the vast majority of the time the competition has been ...

Re: Offical campaign to name the stands at reading

In reply to your valid question Parky, I think a lot of the 'dislike' boils down to passion. At Chelsea, if the home team scores....all you see are ten thousand camera's homing in on the players. Chelsea are now a soul-less club that have no stability (continually changing their manager) and barely ...

Re: Play-Off Tickets

Burnley sold their 2,100 allocation on the first day of sales (Monday). I doubt if any of those will NOT travel. The away end for next Tuesday is sold out completely. And as a matter of interest, although a handful of Burnley fans are complaining that we have the option of 3,000 tickets for their pl...

Re: Play-Off Tickets

Valid point Deathy.

My post was merely in answer to earlier posts that implied that the home leg may be
lacking in demand. In hindsight, I agree with you..my 'call' of '21000 minimum' is too low.
I am expecting either capacity, or very near to it.
It just MIGHT be one of those great nights !!

Re: Play-Off Tickets

Over 16,000 sold, for home leg, in first two days of going on sale...so yes,
I think folks are aware we are in the playoffs.
Crowd will be absolute minimum of 21,000...and more likely 22,500-23,500.
You watch.

Re: Play-Off Tickets

Just to help those that maybe are not regulars at home games, IF we get to Wembley then all rules go out of the window. What I mean by that is it does not matter in the slightest how many fans we have ! I took a coachload to the Simod Cup final....some of the folks on that coach never saw Reading pl...

Re: Play-Off Tickets

Went to stadium ticket office around 12.30 today. Steady stream of fans buying
tickets, but (thankfully) all windows open for sales. So, no real queue.
Took me less than 3-4 minutes.
At that time, we had sold over 800 for the away leg by the way.

Re: Sheff U - Watch on Tele or go to the game?

Best thread I've read in weeks.

I will be going tomorrow. I'd go whether we were top, 4th, 24th. I am a Reading FC fan, and
that is what fans do. So when I read a thread that some ' half hearted gloom merchants' are NOT
going to go...FANTASTIC.... made my day.
Enjoy your beer in town,

Re: OO AA Phillip Parkinson

Agree on the 'legend' and 'wore his heart on his sleeve' stuff etc etc.

Just disagree with singing his name all night. He's the manager of the opposition for
Christ sake !!!!
Give him an ovation - fine. Sing that stupid OO AA song - fine.
Then why not try and actually get behind READING

Re: OO AA Phillip Parkinson

I agree Parky is a legend, and he certainly deserves a good ovation tomorrow....but I hope the fans can then voice support for the team, particularly in what is a critical game for us. I am going to be less than impressed if the adulation for Parky continues into the game, when the support should be...

Blackpool away end holds (side) holds 1,750.

Sheff Utd on the Friday is a right result. Drive up to Blackpool on the
Saturday, plenty of time for an evening out now on the Saturday in
Blackpool.

Re: Coppell or Martinez

Total garbage thread. Should be deleted at once. At least it give the handful of Coppell doubters a chance to post ! And without wishing to rise to the bait, and certainly not wishing to bother reading this tripe, did someone actually mention trying to compare watching Reading or Swansea ? As the va...

Re: Plymouth

I phoned the club on Monday to ask about Plymouth tickets, they said that they expect them to be available from next week sometime. With only 8 away gams remaining, and 3 of those being midweek and long distances, I expect we will sell more than 500. It is further than Swansea, but from folks that I...

Re: On a more positive note ...

Last time I went to Blackpool was back in 1994, when we hammered them 4-0. Had a top day out, and I am trying to remember the name of one of the seafront pubs that a load of us landed in before the game. I think it was Duttons or something? Anyone recall ? Does it still exist ? Memory is a little ha...

Re: Lucky to be a Reading supporter

I started going to Elm Park regularly in the 1970/71 season. So I started my 'watching RFC days' with 5 seasons in the old 4th division. I remember when we went up in 1976 how Reading were celebrating the FIRST promotion for FIFTY years. So pretty much no-one below the age of SIXTY had seen the club...

Re: It's Inevitable...

Re my previous comments on Parkinson. Great loyal player for us. FACT. As for his managerial record.. 1) He resigned from Colchester with a year remaining on his contract. 2) He won 5 out of 24 games whilst manager of Hull. He left by 'mutual consent'. 3) Has zero wins in 10 league games at Charlton...

Not Phil Parkinson.

Why this obsession with him. Yes...great player for us.

Absolutely SHOCKING record as manager at Charlton. I cringe every time
I hear the '5 parkinsons' chant start up. MOVE ON !

Agree. Noel Hunt is showing the right attitude, and he is just sharing
his desire and dream to get promotion this season.
Fair play to the bloke...his brother could learn a lot from Noel's attitude !

Cardiff have NOT sold 4,000.

They were given 3,100...and that is what they have sold.
