Re: VAR

I'm giving you my opinion. The only 'classic' here is your condescension. You took a break last time you couldn't help keep putting people in their place here. Consider another if that's your schtick again.

Re: VAR

Why was Aurier not punished for diving into a tackle with an opponent already going down from the foul by Son? Is that a more dangerous thing to do? And this is another weird statement. Play was rapid and fluid - Aurier was going in for the tackle, and Gomes would have gone into it too had Son not ...

Re: VAR

Why did the referee run over to Son with a yellow card in hand and then change his mind when he saw the injury? If we are going by your rule then surely Son was "endangering his opponent" the whole time and not just when the severity of the injury was seen? Is any tackle made on a footbal...

Re: Weekend Football

Complete nonsense RE: Atkinson. Atkinson went over to Son initially with a yellow card in his hand, as per the rules. Like you say it was a "take a yellow" challenge. Atkinson then changed his mind based completely on the very unfortunate injury Gomes sustained which isn't a basis to upgr...

Re: VAR

'endangering the safety of an opponent' is not linked to intent in the laws of the game. Why did the referee run over to Son with a yellow card in hand and then change his mind when he saw the injury? If we are going by your rule then surely Son was "endangering his opponent" the whole ti...

Re: Weekend Football

A word on Sheffield United and Chris Wilder - up to 6th place now, and having conceded just 8 goals in 11 games, which is outstanding, not least for a promoted side, and with a defence that was playing in League One four years ago (Basham and O'Connell for United, Egan for Gillingham).

Re: Weekend Football

Potentially unpopular opinion - 'cynical' fouls, that whilst not always reckless (like Son's was) are designed only to stop the flow of the game, should be punished with a straight red card. Son tripped Gomes to break up the attack, he was prepared to 'take a yellow for the team'. This should be cu...

Re: Weekend Football

I read a stat this morning that Vardy has now scored 19 goals in 21 games since Rodgers took over at Leicester. His chance conversion is also at 45%. That's pretty outstanding, and Rodgers probably deserves a fair amount of credit for it too. Indeed. And Rodgers remains a terrific manager under-rat...

Old Man Andrews If Nathan Jones does get sacked lets hope he's not gone too long.

Indeed. Bizarre run of poor results given the great job he did at Luton - smacks of a club with problems behind the scenes.

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

Obviously cracking draws for Oxford and Colchester, albeit part of me wanted them to draw each other, just to guarantee a smaller club in the semi finals.

Re: VAR

Well, a) that's not true, and b) VAR is not my 'beloved' (when did you morph into DD), I just try to have a level of debate beyond 'waaaaaaa, stop spoiling my footballz!' Sangers is right. Treading on someone's foot accidentally and impeding them is still a foul even if it was an accident. Impeding...

Re: Euro 2020

It strikes me as a reasonable stance-what else should they be doing? Hitting their pockets even harder - or at least formally threatening to. It's more that I want to see a clear pathway to a tougher stance, much in the way the on-pitch protocol on dealing with this now does*. For me, I'd have a fo...

Re: Euro 2020

I don't think even a million quid is really a good reflection on UEFA's supposed stance against racism.

Re: Fans Forum with Mark Bowen Oct 29

This is that thing 'don't talk about Fight Club', isn't it, where STAR insist that if comments at the forum were more widely shared (than to a collection of ordinary Reading fans) then all hell would break loose.

Re: Euro 2020

Well, there we have it. UEFA confirm that they don't give a shit about racism in football. Bulgaria's punishment for the scenes at this month's qualifier is to play two games behind closed doors (with one game suspended, for next time it happens) and a fine of £64k. Which is actually a greater puni...

KentRoyal Stam resigns from feyenoord

Took Stam's resignation to answer a question I'd posed myself a week ago as to how on earth Feyenoord had ended up signing Liam Kelly.

Re: VAR

VAR can fukking fukk off. No way was that a foul in the Brighton-Everton game May as well cancel football if you can't accidentally touch someone when you're looking somewhere else :| he didn't 'accidentally touch someone', he trod on his foot. That's a foul anywhere else on the pitch, so it's a pe...
