Re: Wigan in Administration

WindermereRoyal asked if the 12 points deduction would apply if they finish more than 12 points outside of the relegation zone. The answer to that question is yes. The punishment is the points deduction, not a relegation. You are wrong to suggest otherwise. You might be of the view that this punish...

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

Don't know what sort of contract Donnarumma has at Milan, but I'm surprised his name doesn't come up more. Fiorentina's Alban Lafont too - who would surely be France's keeper by now if he didn't have Areola in the way. Edit: just read Lafont has had a slightly dodgy time of it in the last year. But ...

Re: New Kits 2019/20

Along with background patterns on shirts, logos to fit club colours also seems to be a thing this season. Chelsea another example - whilst Three do from time to time change their colours to suit a promotion, their company logo is 'normally' white with a black outline. The red and white of Carabao me...

Re: BFIFollow Brentford

Brentford press. And they also keep their shape. That's what successful pressing is - blocks of defenders working as a unit to close down space and make passing avenues narrow. But yeah, I guess there are different ways to play. I know three season ticket holders who have taken the refund for their ...

Re: BFIFollow Brentford

Can't be arsed rating players for that pile of excrement. One major observation though - we don't press. And that has to be a strategy. At Derby the commentary team tried to make out we just weren't pressing certain players, but I think that was just coincidence. We defend zones, and we defend at wa...

Re: Wigan in Administration

And to confirm, the rules are that at the end of the season Wigan will be deducted 12 points unless they finish in the bottom 3 (which is highly unlikely). Therefore they now have to finish 12 points or more ahead of 22nd place (if exactly 12 points ahead they will have need a better goal differenc...

Re: Wigan in Administration

I'd assume yes. That's how the penalty would normally be applied irrespective of league position (say, had they gone into administration in September). The punishment is the points deduction, not relegation - the deduction is just delayed if they are relegated without it. You would assume wrong. It...

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

It's really difficult, as talented as the side is, to see Liverpool maintaining this level next season. They have lost just twice since the start of last season, five times in their last 93 games, and eight in their last 114. Their level surely has to drop.

Re: Wigan in Administration

Will they still be deducted the 12 points if they finish more than 12 points clear of the drop zone? I'd assume yes. That's how the penalty would normally be applied irrespective of league position (say, had they gone into administration in September). The punishment is the points deduction, not re...

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

we haven't completed this season yet m8! a couple of key players leave or get injured loss of form/pace etc disruption in camp City/Chelsea put their hands in their deep pockets ...etc etc Think Chelsea could be one to watch next season, especially if their new striker hits the ground running and i...

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

Think Chelsea could be one to watch next season, especially if their new striker hits the ground running and if Utd can continue some form into next season, it could make for a really entertaining season. If they get Havertz too (and they seem to be the only club with any cash to spend), they'll be...

That trim reminds me of the old Villa away kit.

Re: New Kits 2019/20

If that is actual Spurs then it's fcuking horrific. Dear me. 'Background' patterns is really a thing this year, isn't it? Chelsea kit looks better on Mason Mount than it does on a peg. https://static.standard.co.uk/s3fs-public/thumbnails/image/2020/07/01/08/chelseahome0107a.jpg-7.jpg?w530

Re: VAR

Wasn't particularly appealed but the Cahill one from last night was 'interesting' too - looked to me like he had his arm in the air and in front of his face when the ball struck it. I guess the short distance played a factor in the decision.

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

Some slightly ridiculous defensive numbers coming out of Liverpool's game vs. Palace - as much as it was an easy win and Palace didn't get much of a sniff, you credit Van Dijk and Gomez for much of the latter. They touched the ball 273 times between them, of which a slightly mind-boggling 260 were p...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

This probably came up at some point, but Celta Vigo got dispensation for an emergency transfer outside of the window after their reserve keeper got a long-term injury. So they signed Nolito, a striker. He scored on his debut at the weekend. Following the Martin Braithwaite stuff I'm beginning ...
