Re: FA Cup away day memories

BLYTH - the longest day (and a half!). Did you go? Believe we got a draw and won the replay 6-1...and set up a 4th round tie with Arsenal who were double winnners then, Charlie George and co I was there. Epic journey. Train left about 5am. Awash with beer by Newcastle where we get into can throwing...

Thread crossover.

It's certainly not true for Blyth.

Re: FA Cup away day memories

I did two Cup away days with the supporters club in the 70's. Wealdstone has already been reported on in extenso . Got beat 2-1, George Duck scored 2 for them. We all ran back to the coaches because Aldershot had about 20 hooligans there to attack us. "Run, they're coming". True story. He...

Green
Fox Talbot BLYTH - the longest day (and a half!).

Worth telling us the story or is this one of those "You had to be there" things?

I've been to Blyth, Green, and while I am a bit of a connoisseur of your northern grit, I would strongly suggest staying the absolute fuck away.

Re: FA Cup away day memories

It's been so long that we've had to play two games to get here. Just working back through the seasons and there's some where the 4th round felt like a proper cup run. Losing a 2nd round replay vs York, then losing to them again the next season: desolation. EDIT: 1997 Souness vs Stewards - frozen pit...

Re: FA Cup away day memories

I'd pick a better venue for my day trip.

That game was grim. Stam unveiling the 4-6-0 formation. At least one throw in went straight back out again.

We've played Stevenage a fair bit as well recently

Re: FA Cup 3rd Round Draw

Been drawn away the last trillion times in the FA cup and people moaning cos we are at home for once  probably different people? also, no one as far as I can see has moaned. Yes probably moaning is a bit strong, a few saying they would prefer we were away. from what I can work out, a guy who...

Re: Euro 2020

It's a bit of a farce as it drains the quality from the 2nd round.

OK draw in the bigger picture - totally winnable but I'd rather it was away, all things considered

Simeone. Time might be right for him. Can he speak English though? I have never understood fewer words of English coming out of anyone’s mouth than Emery’s. Completely incomprehensible to me. Some of the stories coming out now about his sacking - players were brutal wrt his language skills, or lack...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Wigan Athletic (a) sponsored by a long trek up north

Don’t suppose we have a recall clause on Barrow in January. Puscas really looks like he’d thrive on proper wingers pinging early balls into the box. Not sure Bowen would be brave enough to drop either Swift or Ovie and regularly play 4-4-2 yeah, this was obvious from the early Gomes games - he trie...

URZZZZ
Hound Is Paul Cook genuinely suggesting Wigan were hard done by with that pen? Bloody hell

I didn’t think it was a penalty until
I was told about the handball
To be fair

I did not believe
It was a clear penalty
but it hit his hand

Re: Reading FC team of the decade

Drenthe had the odd good game and had talent, we’ve certainly had worse than him Manset was terrible let’s be honest, but his backheel against Bristol and double against Millwall might make it slightly harsh Manset was bought above his talent level, had a decent stab at 2nd tier but lacked fitness ...
