Re: MATCHWATCH : Preston North End (h) sponsored by a new hope

It's strange, but anything better than a shambolic defeat will be seen as encouraging.

Re: Howe out?

The hero worship of Howe on his return was stupid. People remember Coppell and McDermott and conveniently forget Bullivant, Burns and Rodgers. I'm not sure how much of a say he had in Bullivant getting the job. He seemed to have much more focus on getting the Madejksi Stadium built at the time. Tom...

Re: CONFIMRED - Mark Bowen

Following on the "snake" comments I wonder if he said to McCleary, Gunter and Baldock on the sly something like "Stick around lads, keep drawing your good salaries, there is every chance that I'll be in charge if and when Jose gets the sack and I'll see that you then get a look in ag...

Re: Congratulations, you are the new Reading manager

GetReading showed a tweet with this comment Whoever the manager is that comes in, they’ll be inheriting a midfield with fantastic ball carrying and the ability to break the lines via dribbles. Swift & Ejaria rank in the top 5 for progressive carries p90 this season. Rinomhota excelled in this me...

Four Of Clubs NL Fixtures w/e Sat 12th October
45 Haywards Heath Town (04 IL1-SE) v Bracknell Town (04 IL1-SC)

It seems Bracknell lost this one 1-2, with the winning goal coming in the 88th minute from the Haywards Heath goalkeeper.

Re: Next Manager

The deafening silence is pretty hard to take at the moment, especially during the international break with no football. The longer we go with nothing happening is becoming a bit of a worry tbf. I guess the delay of appointing a manager is looking like ruling out those currently out of a job, unless...

Re: GOMES OUT!

I wonder how much of a say he had in the transfer deals. If a club signs players with poor attitudes, something we seem to have a real track record for in the last few years, it would be hard for anyone to succeed. Rather than sacking the manager every 9 months or so, I'd rather we had a proper look...

Re: BFTG Bristol

Subjective opinions However, what we have is the potential to kick-on (unlike in previous seasons). We have a team that is under performing...yes Needing a kick up the arse ....yes But capable of winning this league?......well yes...it won’t happen obvs. A change of management....with this talented...

Re: This is Poor

Ok, I have seen every game this season so far and now is enough. This team is poor. IMHO I think its the manager and his tactics that are not up to standard as the players have shown themselves to be quite skilful . ...when they feel like it, which isn't often enough. If you have lazy, gutless, and...

Re: BFT ???????????????????????????????????????????

One problem with the "we need to stick with first XI/formation ideas - we have too many players who have one or two good games, then fade away. The successful formations stop being successful because players need dropping so often. How many players do we really have now who'd look definite firs...

Re: BFT ???????????????????????????????????????????

Before we throw our toys out the pram tonight was one of those weird games. Swift's first red card ever totally screwed up the game. When are we going learn from rugby and introduce a sin bin rather than rendering a game totally pointless? Having a player sent off makes it harder, but it definitely...

Re: BFTG - Charlton

I would much prefer to see the clock stopped when a goal is scored, sub made, treatment for a player or when a free kick is awarded. It works well in rugby. The number of minutes injury time seems so variable these days. I'd like to see the clock in the hands of an independent official who isn't ha...

Re: BFTG - Charlton

Don’t want to take anything away from a really good Charlton team but I fail to understand how Reading’s players looked so tired and leggy after a week of rest for all those that started.. It was like we were playing at 3 am rather than 3 pm. So many unforced errors, passes going astray, passes tha...

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

As for other matters, would expect 3 to go down from L1 and usual promotion from L2 - open question would be if the decide to remove a relegation spot from L2 or decide to award a 3rd spot from the National League. Would probably prefer the latter as better to reward a good side than protect a poor...

Re: Favourite signing of the summer

Matejovsky simply couldn't cope with the pace of the game. Technically decent, but wasn't up to the PL and couldn't hack the Championship. I think he was just the wrong player for the team. He could have been a success in a team that played a different style, but he was a round peg in a square hole...

I still can't see why a player being sponsored by a betting company has the EFL outraged, yet they are completely happy for clubs to have betting companies as sponsors, not to mention the league itself.

Re: Favourite signing of the summer

I don't think I'd call Maskell a success either. Steve Moran & Billy Whitehurst were a big money pairing that both flopped badly. You could also count players who were expensive in terms in wages, even if they didn't come for a big fee. Overall though, if we ever "splash the cash" ther...

Re: Favourite signing of the summer

Have we ever made an expensive signing who wasn't a flop?

I'm sure we must have done, but I'm struggling to think of any.
