Re: Remortgage the stadium!?

Nearly right. I don't think the land was leased for £1, it was actually sold, with the condition that it was decontaminated (at a cost of £6M, so effectively it was sold for £6,000,001). The effective cost was a lot less than that as we immediately sold the uncontaminated land by the A33 for someth...

Re: Green park station/south Reading station

I don't know why they don't take a spur off the Basingstoke line and put a loop around Green Park using trams, this would then service the offices and they could run more trams when there is football / rugby. This would then deliver the fans closer to the stadium and avoid having them walking throu...

Re: Brian: The right decision?

I'd rather lose with a real man like Brian in charge than win with an empty suit like Adkins. That's such a nonsense comment. Brian is a great bloke, had a couple of great seasons with us and will always be welcome back. Adkins has, like Brian, come up the hard way as a manager and has a far superi...

Re: BFTG - Leeds

Think the comments on Drenthe are harsh. He looked good in the first half, good first touch, couple of really nice through balls, but it looked like he did something to his foot at the end of the first half. Consequently he wasn't anywhere near the same in the second half. He clearly was in a lot o...

Re: Brian: The right decision?

You don't sack / not sack people based on history. Some clubs have sacked managers immediately after winning trophies, which is rather different to sacking them after they have struggled for 6 months to win games, or even compete. First sensible thing you've said on the board. Sorry, moment of madn...

Re: Brian: The right decision?

Would love a Leeds win tonight. For football and for McDermott. You want sectioning, something not a little bit right in the head dept Would be nice after he was so harshly sacked by Reading after all he did for the club. You don't sack / not sack people based on history. Some clubs have sacked man...

Re: Brian: The right decision?

How is a Leeds win for football? Anyone who likes a hoofball isn't a fan of football IMHO. If you don't like Adkins' style of play, feel free to go and watch someone else. The person who made that comment is a WUM who does follow a different team. He watches them avidly. Mainly on Sky I believe.

Re: Remortgage the stadium!?

Isn't there more to it than just methane though. IIRC they had to install some special membrane to stop various unpleasant substances contaminating the groundwater and the brook. Presumably the stadium was built on foundations that were appropriate for that and demolishing the stadium and building ...

Re: Remortgage the stadium!?

Apologies for being so patronizingly aggressive but your question didn't really articulate what you are now saying. Sorry, but thoughts tend to 'develop' rather than coming out fully formed. I accept your apology. As for special planning permissions, 1) are you sure they exist? I somehow doubt it, ...

Re: RUMOUR: Mohamed Sissoko

Sky Sports reporting what we all already know. "Reading End Interest in Sissoko" which translates to - he won't come here fro the money we are offering... I suspect it's more the terms than the money. Adkins made it pretty obvious there is a big question over his fitness in some way, and ...

Bellamy has done some utterly stupid stuff in his time, seems a bit Jekyll and Hyde to me but to be fair to him his charity stuff is things he doesn't HAVE to do, and he's better for having done them than blown his wages on fast cars and drugs. Have to put forward Phil Parkinson for a nomination. No...

Re: Remortgage the stadium!?

How would you mortgage a stadium ? It has zero value, if someone defaulted on the mortgage what would be the point in repossessing it as there is hardly a market for 24,000 seater stadia in the Berkshire area. Dur! Clueless?! Is the stadium built within the infamous blackhole? Does it float in the ...

Re: Stadium Expansion

We'd need to be playing Champions League to need a 36k stadium. even in the first season in the Prem, when we were the nation's darlings, winning games and it was all new and exciting there was no sign that 12,000 people were failing to get tickets each week. With good marketing and an attractive, w...

Re: TSI - The Promises, Policies & Progress Thread

I could see Howe moving on, he's very much SJM's man, and TSI might quite understandably want someone of their own choosing running affairs on the business side Hammond is a different kettle of fish as he's purely a footballing person, no real reason why TSI would want to change that given they aren...

So if there was no contact, and therefore Lua Lua was simulating there should have been a card for Both players !

Re: Anton To Face Fans Backlash?

Don't ask me m8,ask Anton. Presumably with £12.5 million of Sky parachute payments and our season ticket money he thought it politically and financially sensible to keep our best player at least until January when he could be worth £10 million or more. I can't ask him ,he's refusing to take my call...
