Re: Squad for 2020/21

Old Man Andrews Chris Martin is officially now available on a free! We need to strike whilst the iron is hot!

Now 31 and struck 11 in 36 league appearances this last season. Now he’s over his illness problem then he’s probably as good as the club might be able to afford.

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

Any club like Bournemouth that doesn't tie everyone into relegation release and wage reduction clauses deserves everything they get. I mean, when you see the trouble it causes big and previously established clubs like Newcastle, Leeds, Villa etc across the last 20 years, it's almost criminally negl...

Re: Ups & Downs 19/20

I believe Blackpool are the most successful play off team being the only one to win all 3 levels, getting to 7 finals from 8 plays offs, winning 5 of the finals they have appeared in Teams in red and white strips do much worse than anyone else. Between Lincoln, Brentford, Shef Utd and Sunderland th...

What's the current staff? Manager - Bowen AST Manager - Niedzwiecki First team coach - O'Shea First team coach - ? Goalkeeper coach - ? Fitness coach - ? Gilkes might take that other first team coach role, or is he already in it? Tbh I have no idea how many there should be but you often hear of def...

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/jul/28/verdict-that-kept-manchester-city-in-europe-delivers-some-glancing-blows-cas-judgment CAS reveals the reasons for its lifting of sanctions on City, and doesn't vindicate the club's position at all. In essence, CAS found that UEFA was right to conclud...

Re: Next seasons kit choice?

Last time Reading had a red away shirt was 2011/2012 and I believe promotion was achieved. To help back this up, once again the home kit has a collar and Reading have the best chance to go up when the home shirt has a collar. And last promotion, Reading also had white shorts so nice to see the club ...

http://www.footballshirtculture.com/images/2020/brighton_2020_2021_home_kit.jpg Smart, really smart. Oh my, that's gorrrrrgeous. The yellow Nike tick just makes it so much better. Wonder if Brighton supporters will be as disgruntled as Reading fans would be if Reading’s new kit was revealed to be t...

Funnily ebpnough, Reading’s supposed rival to Pedro’s signing is UD Almeria in Spain and supposedly Jose Gomes has just been appointed as their new boss (though can’t find anything to substantiate this bit aside from the link below).... https://amp.marca.com/futbol/almeria/2020/07/27/5f1ea5c0e2704ea...

Re: Next seasons kit choice?

Was that our original kit? I would go for a remake of whatever our first kit was. We can have a break in hooped kits for one season. Think it would increase kit sales for 2 years. People would buy something different and then buy the first hooped kit back. Original kit was prison-like hoops. https:...

i) AFC Burybsaid to begging sharing at Radcliffe next season - the owner of Gigg Lane is still trying to sort out n entry for a revived/Phoenix-like alternative Bury up at STEP02 where there may stil be a vacancy - unless the league plug it with some other club. Season 20/21

Season 20/21 will begin on 12 September and be “condensed” so that is completes on 8/9 May with play offs back to their usual place over spring bank holiday weekend. The bad news is that league clubs will continue to face big financial problems with the first month continuing to be played behind clo...

Re: Reading players out of contract in summer 2020

Gunter/ McCleary - writing has been on the wall for a while, both great servants for the club and given their all (despite some rough times that were well documented). Decision to let Teddy Howe go to Blackpool now looks an odd decision as we are short at RB. Yiadom by far our best RB. At the momen...

Signing Josh Laurent next week. A player released by the mighty Shrewsbury Town In the summer. Tbf to him, he's actually not a bad player. Just our record of signing league 1 players lately isn't great. Young and hungry player, just what we need Supposedly beat Stoke, Cardiff and Swansea to sign hi...

Re: Obita new contract

Well there you go, he's gone. Horrible to see the club releasing players who have been here 15+ years and still have something to offer while players like Aluko etc are still stealing a wage. Sign of what a mess the club is in. Feel a little less guilty about opting for the ST refund now. Definitel...
