Re: Gary Hooper

Are we realistically going to sell Baldock, McNulty and Bodvarsson? And if we do, why Hooper when there's Oliveira available? Oliveira > Piggott > Hooper for me. Hooper in his prime was a much better goalscorer than Oliveira (although Oliveira is better on nearly every other count). Suppose if you ...

Re: Jack Stacey

Would be interesting to see the amount we have already taken off the books in the last year, since the beginning of last season. If bod, McNulty, McCleary, baldock and Gunter go we must have halved our wage bill since last summer, with the out of contract players, Bacuna and Ilori already gone. Be ...

Re: Bye, Liam Kelly

Good luck to him. Tidy player who wasn't at his best for quite some time, but got a hard time compared to many of the shirkers we've had. Far better defensively than given credit for, but just too small really. Leaves us weaker right now, but money off the wage bill and bonus income is what we need....

Re: Charlie Kelman

Pepe the Horseman
Snowflake Royal
Pepe the Horseman He's played 10 times for their first team, I doubt he'd come here to play for our U18s.

Well there's bugger all chance a 17 year old with 10 L1 appearances is going straight into our first team.

I agree, although I think that would make him the 14th most experienced player in our squad.

Re: Jose “3-4 Signings This Week”

I think Ejaria was a bit tougher than people credit him for. He’s quite a big lad and physical enough Agree I’d prob rather a Baker (though stats wise his defensive contribution was no better than Ovie’s) or a Eza style lump but don’t think that’s Gomes’ style Agree on the lack of experience being ...

Not sure where the current U18s are at, but rarely hurts to pick up young talent and see how they go in the Academy.

Re: Jose “3-4 Signings This Week”

I liked Ejaria, but felt there was a lot more to come from him. Would happily see him back in CM alongside Rino and Swift I'd worry about it being rather soft with both Eja and Swift. A more creative but still flaky Bacuna, Kelly, Swift alike. Maybe I'm not giving Ejaria enough credit on his presen...

Re: Jose “3-4 Signings This Week”

I would love Ejaria back. He looked like a star in the making. I haven't been as impressed by any of our other highly rated young loan stars (Ake, Chalobah) as I was by him. He would offer reliable cover in 4 positions and has the potential to push for a starting spot. Very surprised by this. Think...

Re: STs for season 2019/2020

Surprised at 13/14 when we just missed out on POs and had some big wins that season like Blackpool and Bolton. One of the factors in the Adkins hate. We picked up a lot of our points away, so the majority rarely saw us perform = quicker to get on his back when we slumped the next season (because An...

Re: Jose “3-4 Signings This Week”

I really do think Oliveira might be one. He posted all that "fake news" stuff on Jnstagram about a move back to Portugal. I reckon Gomes told him to give us a few weeks to move some players out and we will agree your wage demands. Obviously the the keeper is one too. Yep and I suspect Boa...

Re: STs for season 2019/2020

I keep coming back to this stat when I think about how hard work it's been in recent years. Reading FC Home League Wins 18/19: 8 - 35% 17/18: 5 - 22% 16/17: 16 - 70% 15/16: 8 - 35% 14/15: 8 - 35% 13/14: 8 - 35% 12/13: 4 - 22% In the last seven years we've played 157 home league games and we've won ...

Re: Nick Shorey joins Accademy as Scout

Wait. Do people think Shorey wasnt one of the best LBs the championship has seen? I get the argument of "players who have played at least once in the championship but are or were better than Shorey in their prime" might merit inclusion (like Cole who was clearly the best LB any league in ...

Re: Pre season tour

The club didn't make a mistake, the club wanted to keep him. He didn't think the first team management at the time were beneficial to his development so he moved on. I thought he had 2 years left on his contract but refused a new one? Surely if that were the case then we could have kept him despite...

Re: Pre season tour

Stacey has come on leaps and bounds playing as a right back/right wing back. He was never going to get his game here in that position. You wouldn’t have played him ahead of Gunter or Yiadom, based on pretty much zero evidence. Sometimes players have to move away to get better and if he wanted first...

Re: Nick Shorey joins Accademy as Scout

I understand what Enfield's saying. If we go since the "formation" of the Championship in 2004 or whenever, then based on performances in the second tier I think Shorey would be up there with Fox, Baines, and young Gareth Bale. Probably a case for Bridge at Brighton. Doubtless I've missed...

Re: Next seasons kit choice?

Surely there isn't much to gain. It's hardly likely to result in many extra units shifting, just a bit earlier. So if there is a cost attached to releasing earlier it's a no brainer. You would have to plan well in advance to move the release date, so what you make up in one year from positive end of...
