Re: Pre season tour

Stacey has come on leaps and bounds playing as a right back/right wing back. He was never going to get his game here in that position. You wouldn’t have played him ahead of Gunter or Yiadom, based on pretty much zero evidence. Sometimes players have to move away to get better and if he wanted first...

Re: Nick Shorey joins Accademy as Scout

I understand what Enfield's saying. If we go since the "formation" of the Championship in 2004 or whenever, then based on performances in the second tier I think Shorey would be up there with Fox, Baines, and young Gareth Bale. Probably a case for Bridge at Brighton. Doubtless I've missed...

Re: Next seasons kit choice?

Surely there isn't much to gain. It's hardly likely to result in many extra units shifting, just a bit earlier. So if there is a cost attached to releasing earlier it's a no brainer. You would have to plan well in advance to move the release date, so what you make up in one year from positive end of...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

If Kelly goes as well and if we do get some money for Stacey, that’s prob 4m or so in fees and wages saved. Hopefully creates enough to sort some loans ASAP Anyone know how the accounting for fees in works? Is there a spreading over seasons thing, or a loss of asset value in losing a player? Dont f...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

A shame but he's a bit part player under Gomes, we need to create some financial wriggle room and we're hardly beating off the offers for the real dross. Also, his contract is up at the end of the season so it's £750k now or fcuk all next year. Yep and with the save on wages, it’s 1.5m or so toward...

Is accusing someone of being too literal because you get called on crazy claims the new "I was fishing" excuse?

Re: The womens world cup

BTW are people genuinely upset with Alex Morgan's celebration or is it just half witted melts on social media? Given DD is upset about it I'm going to guess that it's the half witted melts option. Second this. She's also since said it wasn't a piss take and instead a reference to a Sophie Turnerism...

Re: Nick Shorey joins Accademy as Scout

Ashley Cole, Wayne Bridge, Ryan Bertrand, Ian Harte... That's an instant 4 and three have played for us! I'll assume you mean the Championship division of the English Football League rather than the entire English league. Otherwise I could name loads more comfortably. I assume you are talking about...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

Yeah, bit part player with injury problems and small goal returns. Unrealistic to expect us to take anything but a loss when we have to shift players and he is apparently unwanted here.

Re: Gary Hooper

Are we realistically going to sell Baldock, McNulty and Bodvarsson? And if we do, why Hooper when there's Oliveira available? Oliveira > Piggott > Hooper for me. Fee agreed with Millwall for Böðvarsson Yep, but still only one of three and could fall through yet. Baldock is probably the one most har...

Re: VAR

On the giving any tiny thing referred I meant the more subjective stuff like White's handball. Arm is in a natural position, arguably it can't go anywhere else. Ball bounces off her chest awkwardly, maybe hits the defender before her arm. Contact is tiny. I don't see how that can possibly be a clea...

Re: Pre season tour

Hes probably saying it's interesting because he (and many others on here) believes that Watson is surplus to requirements. The captaincy thing could be an indication from Gomes that he sees some value in Watson. I absolutely loved Tennai in the u18s and 21s. A lot of people have written him off, wh...

Re: VAR

That's pretty spot on tbf It's a good system being misapplied IMO. Offsides, great. Although there needs to be a lino's call rule similar in cricket, that if it's within x margin it doesn't count. But when it's referred back to ref's they seem to think that the slightest hint of anything must be gi...

Re: VAR

One of the reasons it seems so negative as its most common use seems to be to disallow goals, or maybe to see saved penalties retaken. It's cancelling out moments of excitement. It's not really giving much. Goal-line technology is completely different. It's instant, and seems to resulting in goals ...

Re: VAR

Another bad night for VAR last night, White's goal should have been given, there has to be a margin of error and the advantage given to the attacker when it's that close, the pictures and frame speed literally aren't available to definitively say she was offside there. As for the penalty, absolutel...

Re: Triallist - Denzeil Boadu

Played well today by all accounts. So much for JLow and his “were just doing the lad a favour letting him train with us” Clearly were trailing him and more importantly his fitness after his injuries. Could be a shrewd signing if we can keep the boy fit. Anybody know what type of cm he is like 173 i...

Re: Gary Hooper

Unlikely Bod could command a top waye off the back of very few goals for Wolves.

No way McNulty is on a top wage given where he came from.
