Re: Club 1871 - the What, When, Where, How, Who & Why Thread

As a Dolan ender, the change has been marked. Never used to hear a peep out of the East Stand (probs acoustics), but now there is some decent atmosphere being gener8d in the South it's even encouraging noise at the other end. I think part of that is acoustics, I sit in the Lower West near the away ...

Re: STs for season 2019/2020

Hmm, do I pay £375 to renew in the Lower West of save £76 and join club 1871 for £299?

Not sure the family/Eamon Dolan stand should be more than the Club 1871 area, Isn't the view is about the same but the opposite end?

RIP

I'm sure I spotted him on the Lower West concourse at one of the last two home games (probably the West Brom game).

Re: Ex Players

I just read the Joey interview https://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/foot ... s-16245811 In summary, for anyone who can't be bothered to read it but can strangely be bothered to read my post instead. After 1 month break Clement and Tevreden wait until the first day back to call Joey in and tell him he'...

Re: Championship free agents... who would you have?

Nick Blackman's out of contract - 23 appearances, 1 goal for Derby 2016-19, or something like that. God bless Nicky Hammond, he did good there.

Re: RFC to become the 4th...

Is “The league” still a thing in this context, why such a cutoff between division 4 and the conference? Presumably used to be an amateur/professional thing but those lines are blurred now, as are associations running the things following the formation of the premier league. Maybe it's a branding th...

2 world wars, 1 world cup The relegation scare has distracted us from asking a serious question:

Why do we not have any vegetable + orgasm related chants?
There's a celery cap in place.

Re: Next Season's Squad.

My views - Everyone out of contract can go. I'd rate Jaakkola as our best goalkeeper, However we need to sign someone better and who we keep as no 2 probably depends on who we can't shift. Right Backs - We don't need 3, Both Yiadom and Gunter are good players at this level. I think we'd probably get...

STAR Liaison We already hold the record for most unsuccessful attempts at the FA Cup by a now League club. We first entered the same year as Notts but they won it once.
Bet they were gutted to lose out on that honour.

I wonder if we will use a "historical kit" as a number of other clubs have done when reaching milestones? We have a new kit every season, so might as well. I guess it will be the first one, but with a Carabao log on the front http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Reading/Reading.htm Alternative...

Re: Twenty’s Plenty

The club should at least discuss this with the FA, If we are undercharging for tickets because we feel it is the right thing to do then they should at least give us some extra leaway with Financial Fair Play to cover the loss of revenue/profit from taking this stand.

Re: That Robin Friday goal, now visible on video (sort of)

I wasn't one of the 50,000 who claim to have been there, but I heard it was from the halfway line and he celebrated by knocking a row of policemen's helmets off and then rushing to the changing room to take a dump in Mark Lawrenson's kit bag and downing 4 pints of lager and a shot.

Green
1infoman If you need any other local info, just ask.

Can you describe the difference between a Bristol accent and one from Somerset?
Somerset accents tend to be a bit more slurred due to the amount of Cider they drink.

Casualty and Holby City were filmed in the City don't ask me about either of the programmes cos I think their both rubbish Do you happen to have twin called SpaceCruiser as that sounds like something he would say. Re: BFTG - Brentford

Has Gunter not shown over the past 2 games that he is certainly good enough? You could make the argument that he wasn't initially suited to the way Gomes wants us to play but he has not put a foot wrong over the last 2 games. Whether he would be worth keeping (or happy to stay) as a back-up is open...

Ejaria MOTM for me, not only was he tackling and winning the ball but he seemed to be wearing Glen Little's magic boots as the ball was sticking to his feet at times when it really shouldn't have.

Rinamota and Ejaria - That's who I'd like to see the midfield built around,

I listened to the BBC Berks commentary Tim Dellor was on the money early on refusing to acknowledge we would stay up based on the gap we had when we went 1-0 up. Mick Gooding says the biggest worry is that Rotherham have a fighting spirit to win 2-1 after being hammered 6-1, He's not sure Reading wo...
