Re: Squad Watch 2022/23

It does say "build their fitness back". Recovering from an injury or didn't do enough to keep fit over the summer, springs to mind.

Re: Pre-season games 2022/2023

Yeah liked Obi Wan (might as well get that nickname going now) - he is under 24 isn't he?, so Wimbledon would be due comp but we must be confident that we can strike a deal for us to play him. Maybe if he signs, we'll send someone down there on loan? He’s only been with Wimbledon for 3 seasons so w...

Re: Pre-season games 2022/2023

Benfica game will be shown live for free on Royals TV tomorrow afternoon. It’s 4pm KO. I’m signed into my Royals account but I can’t find it under Royals TV. I did see somewhere “we hope to bring you coverage “ which didn’t fill me with confidence. Advice welcome on how to tune in. If you go to the...

A piece here from Head of Commercial at Reading FC, Tim Kilpatrick in a business magazine if you are interested. https://businessmag.co.uk/companies/reading-fcs-tim-kilpatrick-on-how-marketing-has-evolved-in-football/ Very interesting, Also read the links to Reading Finances, I doubt if we can ever...

blythspartan Yet another deadline missed by Derby’s administrators. I hope this shit show never happens to us.

No chance. We would not be given so many "last chances". The EFL would have expelled us a long time ago!

Re: Reasons to be hopeful?

A lot at that level depends on money. We'd probably be the highest-profile club since Wimbledon to go bust, if it ever happened, so I can imagine with a decent enough owner backing us then we'd be back up in the FL by a decade maximum . However, getting back to the level we have been at or are at n...

Re: Reasons to be hopeful?

Nah,there's always a phoenix Would you be happy to restart the phoenix club at something like tier 7 or somewhere near that level? How many years will it take to get back to League 2, let alone higher. No thanks, not for me. Best we stay where we are, or higher. Sure, why not? Wimbledon fans had a ...

Re: Cash is king… less

You are right RB, times do change and as you get older (and even more old) we just cannot keep up with new laws. I remember the days when you could only spend cash and that was usually coins, because bank notes were a thing of mystery! Edit:- Even the ten bob notes were rare when I was a youngster. ...

Re: Cash is king… less

I may be going back a bit, but wasn't law that under 18's were not allowed a bank card? If that is still in force. I can't see how only 1% of revenue is in cash. I can see the youngsters will have the bill paid by Dad/Mum, but what about the inbetweens who go without a parent?

Re: Reasons to be hopeful?

Simon's Church I'm very much looking forward to being back in the same division as Wycombe, Oxford and maybe even Swindon next year. Re-ignite some of the old rivalries.

I can't see Wyombe and Oxf*rd both being promoted, and how will Swineden jump a division?

No he wasn't asking if your mother is well, he was referring to a Scottish football club - Kilmarnock.

Who's Marnock and what has he done to deserve that?

Re: Ex Players

Just seen on the Club website Jimmy Whitehouse has passed away at the age of 87. How the days of seeing the two Jimmy W's (Whitehouse and Wheeler) knocking in the goals, come flooding back. What a bargain at 250 quid he was! A classy ball playing inside-forward (attacking midfielder)-didn't he have...

Hound
The Royal Forester Alex Pearce has said he "would crawl back" to sign for Reading. would he do so for the pittance we can afford to pay him though?

Don’t need another ageing Cb sadly

He could fill the hole if Moore moves on and Morrison moves over to a mainly coaching role though?

Re: Reasons to be hopeful?

Reasons to be hopeful? Mine is because Paul Ince is our manager. No, not that I think he will get us promoted, but because he indicated that the club had to change behind the scenes before he accepted the job. As things are panning out with Bowen and Head of Recruitment being appointed. It looks lik...
