Re: The 24/25 Season of Optimism Thread

Other than LW I don’t think we have any glaring weaknesses Not too sure what we’d do if one of the CBs got injured - maybe Dorsett there. Mola’s getting close to the standard of a regular LB so I’d be ok with not signing another one, esp with Carson, Ryan and Dorsett knocking about Goes without say...

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

There were a few comments about how we look a decent team and a few on Bindon's clearance where his commitment and awareness impressed some but generally they're just pissed off about how they are sleepwalking and how clueless Matt Taylor is. General consensus was that we won comfortably but they w...

Re: The 24/25 Season of Optimism Thread

Currently we are the 8th highest scorers in the division on 61 goals. We could finish 7th as we are only one goal behind charlton in the scoring charts, in 7th on 62. For perspective top of the league Pompey have only scored 71 this season and second placed Derby have scored 72. And I don’t think w...

Re: The 24/25 Season of Optimism Thread

This has been my favourite season since we last got promoted to the Premier League. There were a few games where I lost faith in Selles, but I have loved visiting stadiums I hadn’t been to in years. Until the sale is done I can’t get too optimistic about next season. Potentially, we could be pushin...

Re: The Magic Number Thread

Need a computer program to track it.... Pretty sure I could do it in excel easily if I could be arsed to paste in the table regularly. I'm sure these days you must be able to get an updated table in data form which you could paste. Safe to say it's my follow through that's the issue, not difficulty...

Re: The Magic Number Thread

Next season it should start from 138 and be updated weekly on how many more points we still need to finish top. Standards must be raised. The temptation to set it up as: Champions - 138 Promotion - 138 Play offs - 138 Survival - 138 And track all 4 is there. But keeping it up would be a mammoth bal...

Re: The 24/25 Season of Optimism Thread

Not sure if this question is right for the optimism thread but I'd be curious to know what Nobbers think is needed to make us a top six L1 side. For one thing, I think we miss too many chances. Fixing that the easy way (ie buy a great striker) is not that likely in the short term. I guess we might ...

Re: The 24/25 Season of Optimism Thread

We are 17th. What does that make us? On the pitch we're 12th. And we'd be higher than that if Selles had changed quicker. Yes I agree. I just don't agree with the assessment that most of the teams are piss poor. The bottom 4 are but above that I think there is an interesting mix of long ball sides,...

NathStPaul
windermereROYAL Peterborough are still not without a shout of autos yet, 2 games in hand, 8 points behind, they`ll really go for it tonight.

They won't get automatic promotion.

Really not the point of that message

Re: Hob Nob Anyone? player of the season 2023/24

Ark Royal Voted for Bindon and after that miraculous goal line clearance last night he should also win Sonko of the Season.

I think safe to say that after last night, Bindon and Wing aren't going to be losing anyone's votes

Re: The 24/25 Season of Optimism Thread

Did anyone else catch Dave Kitson on BBCRB last night. I only heard some of it and I doubt he’s actually ITK, but he seemed very dubious about the takeover and whether it’s going to happen. Like several others from the 106 squad, though, he seemed to have a genuine affection for the club. Seem to r...

Re: The 24/25 Season of Optimism Thread

Really need to keep this squad relatively untouched, it can only be a positive outcome. But have to be cautious, the takeover isn`t over the line yet, I wouldn`t put anything past Dai at this point. I agree though, the standard of most teams in this league has been piss poor , there`s nothing to st...

Re: The 24/25 Season of Optimism Thread

Tbh bar that 2 points in 10 game run or whatever it was I’ve enjoyed this season on tbe pitch I’d take much the same; add an extra 4 or 5 wins and no points deductions or panic sales and I think we’d be in quite a good place Yeah, the shit this season has been almost all owner driven. The first mon...

Re: Rival Watch

It's tough. I want Vale, Cambridge, us and Cheltenham to survive.

So I guess I want Shrewsbury to lose all their games and Vale probably need the points tonight to overtake them.

I think my order of preference for survival is:
Reading
Cambridge
Cheltenham
Port Vale

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

My tuppence worth! I think that the Americans (as in Wrexham) are attempting to draw locals back to the game, Wrexham has good transport links to both Liverpool and Manchester. How often can they get tickets to see the big clubs and the cost associated with this, invest in a small club with big amb...

For me: Pereira Abrefa, Mbengue, Bindon, Mola Wing, Elliott Azeez, Knibbs, Ehibhatiomhan Smith Button, Dorsett, Carson, Rushesha, Savage, Mukairu, Wareham With Carson and/or Rushesha getting 20 minutes. In fact this would be my next three teams. Pereira Yiadom, Bindon, Dorsett, Mola Wing, Savage Aze...

Re: Squad Watch 2024/25

Key thing for me now is to give a few fringe players some.sub minutes and maybe a start, not too many at once, but we need to see who we want to contiñue to develop and who we can't rely on to step up next season.. So I want to see at least one 15 min plus sub appearance from the following: Carson R...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bristol Rovers (a)

Ffs dim teller and ‘listen’ mick gooding getting Mbengue and yiadom completely mixed up. Saying Mbengue was injured and has had to go off. It was yiadom  and I’m not sure he was even injured. Was it tactical? To Dim and 'Listen', players like them always seem to look very alike. They are also...
