Re: 3rd UEFA Cup Competition

Isn't the Europa League treated as a complete irrelevance as it is? Wish FIFA and Uefa would just leave football alone, its not broken so don't try to fix it. Only in England - here it is a pretty big deal to qualify for it as it is seen as a reward for a successful season and there doesn't seem to...

3rd UEFA Cup Competition

From 2021/22 UEFA have announced today they plan to have a 3rd competition of 32 teams. Europa League will drop down to 32 teams as well, so 96 teams qualify across the 3 comps. Will we see this 3rd comp as a rebrand of the Cup Winners Cup? Would imagine this will also remove the safety net of 3rd p...

Old Man Andrews Bolton on the brink apparently.

Yep and even with the 12 point penalty, a win for them on Saturday v QPR (H) whilst we lose at PNE, would take them back above us on GD.

Re: Nations League & Friendlies

Watched Liechtenstein v Gibraltar last night, as have a soft spot for the country of Liechtenstein. Was a pretty entertaining game, capped off by a certain Sandro Wieser popping up with the second in a 2-0 win. Really enjoying this competition, will always be 3rd priority for international managers ...

Re: Birmingham points deduction?

what i don't get is, don't the football league have to ratify the transfer? why did they approve it for a team on an embargo  That is where I was baffled. Transferring a player is all about transfering which club he is registered to according to the authorities. A player signs a registration ...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Nolan sacked from Notts County. 1 point from 5 games after making the play offs last year. You're only as good as your last five games I guess. Thing is they were top in November (admittedly thanks to Nolan), and second in January, but won just 7 of their last 18 games. They should have gone up. Ha...

Re: Where have the hardcore gone? Culture loss.

Bring back standing. That would help A LOT. See this all the time, it would help nothing at a club like ours in reality. We aren't Celtic, we aren't Borussia Dortmund we are little old Reading where for the last 20 years apathy has reigned supreme. We don't deserve to have standing in all honesty, ...

Re: BFTG - Weds H

I thought BOTH Reading fullbacks had an excellent game. As others have said, the invisible midfield were the problem. Thought the three subs showed commitment and energy. I really think McNulty should be given a decent run. He seems to play deeper, like a number ten (which might help the midfield) ...

Re: Where have the hardcore gone? Culture loss.

Having moved to the Midlands during the week for my job, I have spent the last three seasons coming back to Reading (at my personal cost) for midweek games. I think I've missed one midweek game as a result. This year, I've already missed both Carabao cup games and will no longer prioritise coming b...

of course, but at least it made you FEEL something... and I bet you didn't h8 the bit where we 4 goals up. i bet you oxf*rd loved that. that was one of the greatest feelings ever, and that still counts, despite the crushing and inevitable heartbreak that followed Sometimes I watch the highlights an...

Jagermesiter1871 Judging by our Iranians Instagram page he's still in Tehran so not sure when we'll first see him.

On International duty, so after that - though probably not Preston.

Re: Clement

yeah agree. Bacuna seems to be getting a little run and not playing too badly. Then it really depends on how the Iranian chap is. Potentially if he settles quickly then him and Bacuna is an ok midfield. Swift and Kelly/Meyler on the bench, along with Walker, McNulty, Meite and Blackett would work f...

Re: Clement

Agree with that lot Ian Though PC can do something. It’s his job to really. Imo he needs to identify the correct set of 18 players, get a system and stick with it. I think that’s what he’s trying to do - just needs to do it better and be a bit more ruthless (Aluko) I think he is still trying to fig...

Fezza Can add to this that a lot of kids at the academy and below are jumping ship as un-amused by the running of the club...

At what level? Am assuming it's not at the higher end of the academy as we would likely hear about this, or certainly notice a sudden massive shift in the U18 squad for example.

Re: Where have the hardcore gone? Culture loss.

I'm struggling to turn on iFollow most weekends, so god knows what it's like for someone who can get to Reading most weeks. I've given other reasons why regulars stay away but the main reason why we only get about 12k home fans at the mo is that the football is rubbish and we are losing, what is it ...

Re: Where have the hardcore gone? Culture loss.

True enough...although I am 36 so if you have been supporting them since 1993, then there has also been some real dross years of relegation down to the third tier. Also, of course, the most successful period in the clubs history. Your explanation (in my view) is correct for the loss of fans turning...

Some will have moved, some will simply have other things to do on a Saturday especially those in their 30s who are now likely to be married/in long term relationships and/or with kids. As a result, people will simply not be able to make it 23 times a year and it isn't cheap. Going to football is me...

Re: BFTG - Weds H

I've noticed a few people complain about Aluko bottling a 50-50 challenge in the build up to their first goal. Not noticed anyone mention the fact he then made literally no effort to pick up his man and get goalside until he'd received the ball, and then narrowly avoided giving away a penalty by pu...
