Re: CONFIRMED: Pelle Clement

there are plenty of players in the Academy who can play more than one position. Jack Stacey was a winger who played full back or wing back as well, several of the centre backs can play full back or midfield, Josh Barrett pops up as a winger, no 10, striker, Tyler Frost seems to play anywhere, Tom M...

Re: CONFIRMED: Pelle Clement

so Japp prefers players who can play in mulitple positions but not specialised in any particular position. Now it makes sense why sometimes players play what we consider out of position. Only one problem with that is I'm guessing that academy players are not taught to play like this so that why he b...

Re: Summer Ins and Outs

I'm less concerned, the players we've lost, while we had high hopes for them have hardly set the world alight. Fosu and Stacey are probably the ones who got closest to the standards needed at the club but they did quite well at League Two level. The only one I have gotten a touch concerned about is...

Re: Summer Ins and Outs

it seems that every club in the country is developing young players for clubs lower down the structure. Ours get cast off to League 1 and 2, and we get cast offs from the Premier League. Then the PL itself gets them in from outside the U.K. All seems a bit weird really. Not really when you think ab...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

LWJ I mentioned previously that Kuhl had an attitude problem which some of the coaches didn't like. Think he got too big for his boots ultimately.

What a load of bollocks. Have you got nothing else better to do then talk garbage. Wrong to assasinate a young lads career that way. Shame on you.

Re: Ins and Outs – 2017/18

Most of what I am seeing on this forum is the same squad being chosen for next season and the fringe players to be sold or released. that aint rocket science. Defence needs to be broken up and rebuilt, that's obvious by our poor record defensive record it seems most people on this forum have memory ...

Re: Now starts the re-build

Key to the way we play is moving he ball with an abrupt change of pace and purpose, combined with stretching the pitch with movement. Kelly is very good at this. He should be one of the first names on the team sheet next season. Swift ought to have been good at this, but is pushed off the ball too ...

Re: BFTG - Rov'rum

I know a lot of you divs are so pissed up at games that you don't see the opposition but I thought their centre-back was commanding in the air to the extent that Yann hardly won a challenge. Checked him out last night- he has a bit of a pedigree as an Arsenal youngster but was bought by Cardiff and...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Norwich City (a) sponsored by a Cooper’s brace

First of all you have to respect Stam for believing in his way of playing football and not deviating from it regardless of the consequences. Secondly I think Stam should apologise and not the players after all he has to ensure the players understand what he wants and if he cant get that into there h...

Re: Back from listening to the game v preston on the radio

I'm guessing Stam got money in the transfer window from the Thais on the promise of staying in the playoffs. Thais Not known to give money on no return so Stam I guess is under pressure to keep to his side of the bargain. Stam gambled on premiership players to get automatic promotion (bet they didn'...

Lower West
Muskrat 1) Stam talks bollox most of the time.

Stam can only work with the players at his disposal. Those that aren't up to the job will be replaced. I find his interviews refreshingly honest.

Most of the squad were bought by stam.

Re: Back from listening to the game v preston on the radio

I was actually at the game. Not as bad as the scoreline suggests. First was a mistake from Blackett. Second was the most blatant handball I've ever seen. Couldn't really see the third, but was game over by then. Even before he scored Barkhuizen was the stand out player. Great touch and just looked ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Preston North End (a) sponsored by WarmUpGate

The biggest frustration for me is that once again we've had a good start to the season, seemed to be genuinely building something good and developing an exciting and quality style of play only for things to go backwards in the second half of the season. The style seems to be getting further from th...

Re: Back from listening to the game v preston on the radio

Sounded bright and promising for the first 30 minutes and seemed we should have scored at least once but as ever let down by bad luck and poor decisions Then Blackett missed again and we fell apart and delivered the standard miserable away performance. So, of the current top 9 teams away, Reading h...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Preston North End (a) sponsored by WarmUpGate

Three things we need to do to win next weeks game.

1) dig up hillsborough pitch the day before game. As we only play well on shit pitches that why we are so good at home.
2) play the Team we had prior to the loanees coming in.
3) have a plan c - we don't like plan b

Re: Best midfield combination?

We seem to use a different midfield three every match. Assuming we play 4-3-3 or similar (e.g. 5-2-3 with a midfielder at centre back), who would your first choice midfield three be? Due to limited options, I had to exclude Wieser, Quinn, Oxford, playing someone out of position, youngsters, Ian Roy...

Re: BFTG Newcastle (H)

Not sure this is wholly accurate, because Stam encourages risk taking in the right areas of the pitch. My take on proceedings is that the speed with which we play the ball across the pitch is, at times, ponderous at best, allowing the opposition time to draw themselves across and pressurise the bal...
