Re: Harte Signs

Here's a bet, then. If Harte is first-choice for the rest of the season he'll finish in the top 30 on Actim The reason he might not make the top TWENTY is he'll always be short of the 53 points he could have earned if he hadn't played those games for Carlisle Now, seeing as most of you seem to be sa...

Re: Harte Signs

I note that Ian Harte is now 86th best player in The Actim Index. The Actim Index does not make allowances for games not played, so Harte, starting in game 5 is disadvantaged. He has amassed 160 points in 12 games. A rate of 13.33 ppg Had he played all 16 Championship games, and picked up the same ...

Re: Harte is Rubbish, not good enough for the Championship

Calculation 2 states - It also takes points away from players for negative actions such as yellow/red cards and shots off target So a - you do lose points and (b) this will therefore have affected his position in some way. Thank you. Parkin's shooting is AMAZING 18 ON 10 Off 64% when typical is 50%...

Re: Team for Norwich (H)

It's not a case of wanting to PROVE anything It's a reaction to so many lame statements on the flimsiest of evidence Cummings will never be a player Kebe will never be a player Earlier this season I read that Karacan would never make it in the Championship Long will be gone in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010...

I am totally fine, thanks. Married, good kids, moderately healthy, active mind,

to say gash unless I have an accident while peeling potatoes.

Re: Harte is Rubbish, not good enough for the Championship

They do not give any guide as to how these are calculations are done though. I'm not sure how many points you lose for a shot off target but that could well be affecting Common's overall position despite his goals. They do not give any guide as to how these are calculations are done though. I'm not...

Re: Harte is Rubbish, not good enough for the Championship

They do give "lots of marks" for goals but if you think for one seconed cmonurz was suggesting that's the be all and end all then I worry about your sanity. Bill Hooks It's not strange that those two are at the top, Snowball, because they have scored a lot of goals - especially, as I alre...

Re: The first goal is vital

So let me get this straight - goals are the biggest factor in determining the outcome of a game? Stone the crows. Think you might have missed the point - sorry if it was too complex for you to grasp. Ahh, the old "i'll suggest i'm smarter than you" ploy. Timeless. To be fair, Maguire, unl...

Re: The Best Defence? MAY CONTAIN STATS

^ Fwiw my point was not 'we can't judge someone after x games', it's that there's no point to statistical proof of it until the sample is big enough. And whilst you won't admit I'm right on that, I am right. . Where the HELL have I said this is proof of ANY kind? it's just the first glimmers of a p...

Re: Harte is Rubbish, not good enough for the Championship

It's not strange that those two are at the top, Snowball, because they have scored a lot of goals - especially, as I already highlighted, Actim has been criticised previously for favouring attacking statistics. Oh why didn't you SAY, that explains EVERYTHING 11 Goals = Position 01 in Actim Index Bo...

Re: The Best Defence? MAY CONTAIN STATS

It's much more valid to say 'since x came into the team we've looked more solid defensively', but there's really no point posting up six games as some sort of validation of that opinion because, as you point out yourself, depending which way the next two or three games go, the stat can move conside...

Re: Harte is Rubbish, not good enough for the Championship

Wycombe Royal

So now clubs value players based on the Actim index? Long must be worth about £3.52 then.......

NOPE, but two separate methods of valuing players come to similar conclusions

Isn't it strange that Bothroyd and Taarabt are in the top three?

What kind of crap system picks THEM out eh?

Re: Harte is Rubbish, not good enough for the Championship

As you've no reason to question its validity, you won't mind my conclusion that as Long doesn't even feature, then he is quite obviously not pulling his weight, in terms of either his scoring, or the all-round game you believe to be equally represented by Actim. Listen, Paddington. There are approx...

Re: Harte is Rubbish, not good enough for the Championship

Wimb
Not disputing he was a good player, it was to dispute the fact that the actim index isn't always accurate

The Actim index WAS accurate and got Hunt right. I said so at the time.

That's why we got a lot of money for him. That's why we paid him so much money.

Re: The Best Defence? MAY CONTAIN STATS

But if you recognise the sample is small and so devalues the analysis, what's the point in posting it up? It doesn't DE-value the stat, it makes it less valuable than 46 games. Sheesh, everyone says "Zurab has improved the defence," right? Yet he has only played 8 games!! But we "kne...

Re: Back from the game - Cardiff City

Incidentally, the rule of thumb applied to Church's appearances has 6 (10) = 7.67 games or 690 minutes.

Church has played 724 minutes. One of his games had extra time and he played 120 minutes.

690 + 30 = 720 Dang it, four minutes out!
