Re: Statistics show

creative_username_1 sorry what i meant was is it based upon some sort of quantitive data or was it more subjective

I think mostly quantitate rather than subjective otherwise it would weaken the theories of course.

Re: Statistics show

Yes unusual things will always happen given long enough. There is always the exception to the rule. But you could safely predict that something unusual will happen in one game in say 10000 such as the beach ball.Largely this is irrelevant. I think statistics can give you an overall trend and if int...

Re: Statistics show

The downside with these models is that they are unable to (accurately) predict the future (the flaw of every model) How are the %'s measured is it a relative thing to your team or an overall player rating (like a chess ranking) Overall player rating. Using the past to predict the future can be tric...

Re: Statistics show

Statistically (in other words, not necessarily reliably) the two weakest performers so far, iirc, have been Blackman against Bolton (definitely) followed by ALF against Ipswich (I think). I'll check when I'm home. But the sample size is really too small to draw any firm conclusions yet, and in any ...

So in order to improve, football teams should replace their poorest performers with players that will play better? This is a revolutionary new way of thinking. Dear Football Association, I have an idea that will change football forever... Not sure that you understood. If the best player is slightly...

Statistics show

Statistics show that the best way to improve your team is to sort out its weakest link. I.e. if you have say your best player that rates at 80% (100% being brilliant) but the weakest player at 25% they are less likely to perform as well as a team that has their best player at 70% and their weakest a...

Re: RUMOUR - Jermaine Defoe

We should really think about instituting an IQ check before assigning usernames. As he is getting older I think he may drop a league if its near to London and he thinks the club may get promoted. If we are not aiming high, and after all £6m is the sort of investment you have to make if you are at a...

Re: Last option Defoe

Icke What opportunity would that be, this is pure fantasy. Spurs won`t sell him and if they did he would not drop down to The Championship.

Spurs are offering him for sale at £6m. QPR want him on loan but it has to be a cash sale

Last option Defoe

It seems we will have one last option of getting a top class striker in. That has to be Defoe from Spurs at £6m. 25 goals plus our emerging team could seal promotion. Hammond, you have to take this opportunity!!!

Re: Reading eyeing up move for Thomas Hitzlsperger

The key to the passing game is not the original passer (any player can pass) but that he passes to someone who can retain it and forward it to another player who is in a dangerous position. Its a triangle. The teams that retain possession win most games. That means that often the deep midfielder doe...

Re: BFTG - Ipswich

we gotta start with guthrie (class), karacan and williams in midfield. our 3 great wingers can't play as a midfield trio and we looked so much better with a solid midfield. Alf cant play upfront alone and we need marriapa at cb. Drenthe looked a class above too, so happy with him. HRK was poor but ...

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window

Does anyone know if anything was mentioned by NA at the STAR forum this week regarding transfers? We can only hope now that we manage to keep Pog.
